Springfield XDs Mid-Mag Promotion

Got my 2 I ordered yesterday, a few days ahead of Fedex's estimate.
Unfortunately the 6 rounder makes it a little too long to be practical in my right front pocket.

Got mine yesterday also. With the new mag it's impractical for pocket carry in the pants I'm wearing now. It should work OK in some of my other pants with bigger pockets.

Overall, I like them.

IMO the gun itself makes it a tad large for pocket carry, but is doable with the flush fit magazine. I primarily carry IWB so the 6 round mag works great for me.

I really like that little gun. The longer I carry it, the more I like it. I've never done this before, but I may pick up a second one just to have around in case mine breaks down.

Friday morning UPDATE:

So far, no response from SA. I originally emailed them about it last Saturday morning and resent the email Tuesday night.

This morning I used their on-site form-driven contact email to ask for their assistance with the issue.

If they fail to respond for another week (which would really surprise me), I will call them.

To reiterate, I am not in a rush for this, just interested in how long SA takes to both address and then fix their OOPs.

So ... has Springfield Armory customer service always been non-responsive (one variation of "sucks"), or is this something new for them?

I could understand 18 months ago during the XDs Recall balls-up, but I am not aware of any current upset in the SA Universe that would cause them to ignore something this easy to rectify.

Funny, as I was getting dressed this morning and throwing my XDs in my bad for later in the day, I thought "I wonder if GBExpat ever got his magazine issue fixed."

I've never heard of SA ignoring a customer before. Seems odd.

to the last iteration) has finally produced a response.

I added the capitalized preface to the email (the order#-modified final @SUBJ is listed below) ...

IT HAS BEEN *2 WEEKS*, PLEASE RESPOND! Re: *Please* Respond Re: Invoice # - 1234567 ... Wrong mag sleeve included

... and someone finally responded to that one. <chuckle>

She asked what I needed (which was clearly stated in the email) and told me that she had tried, first, to call me but that the phone number I included in the order is for a business phone (which it is not, I checked the order and my home phone is correctly listed) ...

... but it matters not, because they have re-sponded!

Maybe sometime next week I will be able to tryout this new mag.

It does hinder concealment ever so slightly, but IMO, it makes the gun a lot handier and more shootable.

I'm sure you realize the sleeve is not necessary to function.
When I was carrying the 7 rounder as my spare I left the sleeve off to reduce bulk in my other pocket.
I'll likely do the same with the new 6 rounders.

Oh yeah ...

I plan on first firing it some without the sleeve, and then installing the sleeve and repeating.

I am planning on doing it in that order partially because I found that removing the big-backstrap sleeve was a real PITA ... very tight.

The sleeves slid on and off my 7 rounders perhaps a little too easily. The 6 rounders- wow- they are tight!

The GOOD News: I received a small-backstrap .45acp XDs magazine sleeve from SA in the mail today.

The BAD News: It is for a 7rd magazine rather than a 6rd magazine.

So, my adventure continues ...

Hopefully, she has it sorted now and I will receive the sleeve by EOW, next.

Well, if they have to drop the ball of something like this with someone, I am glad that it was me ... because I am rarely in a rush for such things.

I've bought FOUR XD pistols and missed out on the magazine promotions each time. Out of spite, I switched my carry gun to an FNX. Screw 'em!

So because you happened to buy at the inopportune time and missed out on a promotion, you blame SA, and choose not to carry one of their guns?

Rant on:
While I like XD pistols, I have relegated my two remaining XD's to truck and Jeep duty. I traded a 40sc for for my "dream" J-Frame, and the XDM40c was a trade in to OMB Guns for my FNX-40. The 9sc is in the Jeep and the 45c is in the pickup.

I still prefer them over any Glock, but I failed to buy them on Springfield's schedule. Oh well, I no longer need extra magazines anyway. I have what is needed.

In today's Post, I finally received the correct sleeve for my 6-rd magazine. WHEW!

BTW, I applied some paste wax to the inside so that it slides more easily upon the mag.
