Can you find .22lr?

I am able to find it at Wal-mart pretty easy..... the "hunt" of finding it.....

Yep. Tried that wikiarms.com & clicked on Walmart ammo.
There was a case of CCI mini-mags in the store mentioned & I was able to get 300 rounds this morning @ $7.47/100 + tax. :)
I'd recommend trying it if you are having a hard time finding 22LR.

All the ammo is going to gunbroker and until people are no longer willing to pay 0.10/rd. that is where you will continue to find it.

I haven't seen any .22 LR ammo at the local Walmart(s) in over two years. Every time I go to Walmart, which is pretty often, I swing by the sporting goods section to look for .22 LR ammo. Nope. None there. Good thing I stocked up before our illustrious C in C (POS) was reelected. I quit buying the Federal 550 round bulk boxes when the price reached $20 because I thought that was too high. I haven't bought any since and I've curtailed my .22 plinking tremendously because my center fire reloads are cheaper.

I personally think the ammo manufacturers are deliberately keeping the supply short to inflate the prices. How else can you justify $.10 a round for .22LR ammo?

Just my taker on the situation.... :scrutiny:

Picked up a couple of boxes of 9mm at the local Wally world last night. The clerk indicated that although they were sold out, they had recently been getting in more .22LR than they had in awhile. He said they had gotten 2 shipments of .22LR last week instead of the normal single shipment per week.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but the facts don't support it. The facts are consistent with supply doubling or tripling over the past few years but demand increasing even more.

More demand than supply causes prices to rise. Personally I can't justify paying that much for .22LR and so I haven't been buying any. I won't go back to buying .22LR until the prices get back down to a reasonable level or it becomes apparent that's never going to happen.

Thinking that all of the .22 ammo is going up for sale on gunbroker is incorrect. Sure there may be people that buy it to sell on gunbroker, but not everyone who buys .22 does that. The .22 I buy doesn't go on gunbroker (or any other site), it gets shot by me and my family. Amount of .22 sold by me to others - zero.

Besides, there are places that sell .22 for less than 10 cents a round. But they still sell out quickly.

The only thing I noticed is signs like: ".22 ammo available at front desk" and three box limit at Walmart. While I have zero use for .22lr it looks like there are still some people out there replacing clothing with ammo in closets and cars with ammo in garages.

Occasionally, but I have to admit that I don't really spend any time looking for it. I just happen to run into some in local sporting goods stores from time to time. No place appears to have a consistent supply yet, though.

Once the current panic eases up (and I'm surprised it's lasted this long) will be the time to stock up. Which is what I did after the 2008-9 shortage, so now I have no ammo concerns.

A few years prior to that, I did my ammo buying on the way to the range. Those days are now nothing more than a memory.

Just left walmart...and Lord be praised...there was a miracle. 22lr on the shelf (100rd mini mags). This is an anomaly around here (West Coast Florida) It seems its starting to trickle back onto the shelves, I found a couple of 50rd boxes of thunderbolts about 20mi from where I live about a week ago. To be expected though, the prices of 22 ammo on the secondary market have started dropping, less profit for the scalpers.

I am starting to find some here in South Centeral Wisconsin I went to the Fleet Farm in Beaver Dam and found the Remington 525 round box on the shelf they had 50 round boxes also.I got my stuff that was on my list ,and a 525 round box of .22 and when i walked back through sporting goods the larger boxes were all gone, and only a few 50 round packages left. I looked at the Dicks in town out of curiosity and they had Aqulia? in several different styles but it was expensive at between $ 7.00 and 9.00 per box of 50

Because of the .22lr shortage I have not shot or purchased that caliber in over 8 months. If everybody did the same the price would drop down to .06 cents per round in a jiffy.

MINI mags are regularly showing up in the Gander where I live in FL priced at $8-$9 / 100

If no one bought any for 8 months I'd guess they would just stop making it.

Be careful of what you ask for.... you just might get it.

I posted a new thread about this but unliked Dick's has Remington Golden Bullet 525 VP @ $30. Two box limit. I hate to not leave any for others but it's been so long my wife bought two boxes as well. I wouldn't usually be in Dick's but my wife was shopping for her work. I haven't shot more than 100 rounds of .22 in over a year.

I've figured out my LGS's system. They get a pretty substantial shipment every week or two of CCI SV. Every morning they put out 500 rounds (10 boxes of 50) on the shelves. If it runs out, they might put out a few more boxes if someone asks. But I think they've found a pretty good system of keeping supply steady. No limit on how much you can buy, either. They do get plenty of "bricks" every 2-3 weeks, but not usually CCI.

I also have found 550 Remington's at Dicks. Got 4 bricks last two weeks.
Cabelas regularly has bricks but I don't live too close to one.
Academy sports gets them but you have to be there right away to get it.
Walmart around here gets it as well but again you have to be there when its brought out.

There are 2 Dicks within a 15 mile radius of my house (wow that sounds weird) none of them have any .22LR. Since the guy behind the counter knows me by now, he told me one of the stores received a case of 20 bricks of 325 rounds but sold out the same day.

Federal Auto Match, 325 round box (more of a cube than a brick) $18.97 per box at Walmart this morning at 7:10am when I stepped in to buy mom a mother's day card. They had about 18 boxes on the shelf. I bought one box. No sign of hoarders or flippers with trench coats, hats and dark sunglasses.

sunday night at wally world I got 3 -325 of federal auto match.
and 3 550 federal bulk packs and 3 100 packs of cci.

clerk said 3 box limit of each different skew number.

Went to the 3 closest WalMart stores in my area (Suffolk County, NY). Spoke with employees there who *all* said people show up at 7:00 AM sharp and buy all 22LR ammo as soon as they're available. Since the stores don't receive a lot of 22LR, and deliveries aren't regular, they're always out of stock. "In stock" shown on the website isn't always accurate either.

Now, they have shelves and shelves of shotgun ammo just sitting there.
