I want to give a shout-out to Eric at Helix Gunsmithing in Arnold, MO. I love Ruger revolvers, but hate the way their stainless guns look from the factory.

He did a trigger job on this and bead-blasted it to give it that matte, S&W CS look. I think he did a great job.

SICK!

I like it! I personally like Ruger's satin stainless finish, but this looks great too. Low glare, very practical look to it. Is this a new Redhawk or older model?

New (2014). I had been looking for years to find a 5.5", so when this one popped-up, I bought it.

From what I can tell, and have been told, the Redhawk line hasn't been 'affected' with any MIM parts that they use on the SP series, and maybe even the GP100s. Now to find some new grips...

My new, lovely little Charter Arms Bulldog has a similar rough looking "bead blast" type finish:

Excellent gun, with awesome stopping power for its size and weight.

How much does Eric charge for trigger job? I got an sp101 that I was thinking of dropping off for him.

If your SP101 is a carry gun, think hard about doing it.
I once had an SP101 bead blasted. It looked wonderful! But once I started carrying it, I realized just how much the bead blast finish gives salty sweat a place to hide and stay and turn into rust. I had to rigorously clean it to avoid freckling, and had to remove the grips very frequently to clean and oil under them or it would rust very easily.
if I had it to do all over, I would have had that SP101 hard chromed with a matte finish.

The finish looks great on that gun, but now I don't know if the grips match. Some kind of blue or green hued laminate grips would really set it off. Very nice!

Looks much improved.

Ruger annoys me with the warning stamped on the barrel, "Read the Fugging Manual!" or something like that. It was an insult every time I picked the gun up. I often wanted to grind out that message.
