I'm switching to MBC's Coated Bullets. Been using their lead bullets, but am finally coming to the end of those bullets. From a reloading perspective, how different are their coated offerings from plain lead offerings?

That being said, I've been loading all of my 9 & 45 with HP-38. I am, unfortunately, coming to the end of the 8# jug on my shelf. As I can't find HP-38 to save my life, I'm looking at other options.

From a reloading perspective, there is hardly any difference at all. Except less smoke, no leading, and no worry about the sanctity of your Polyanna Glock barrel.

I prefer HP38 (or W231), too, but have loaded non-magnum pistol ammo with a variety of powders depending on availability and curiosity. I could list them, but they are all in your manuals and the manufacturers' sites.

I guess if similar then I'll stick with the tried and true recipes. I'll continue to look for HP-38. I've got some, but I guess I need to actually weigh how much I have left.

Has anyone had an experience with CFE Pistol? Very curious about this new powder and I don't seem to see a lot of postings on it.

With the crisis many of us have found powders that perform better than HP-38/W231. But for one powder that works best in multiple calipers HP-38 is hard to beat. I picked up 8# about 2 months back. Before that W231 was available for a short time. Keep your eyes peeled. If you get a chance to backorder from dealers do it, and when it comes in at one place cancel the other orders.

HP-38 works really well in 45 ACP, but has been leaving wanting when it comes to 9 Luger.

I may give CFE Pistol a try. Finding any pistol powder has been a challenge.

Thinking about what I have seen about lately I would give WSF a try.
Recobs has 1, 4 and 8s right now.

I have had good luck with 4.3gr WSF RMR 125 cone at 1.065 OAl. Gives about 1030 fps. (You can go heavier I just like vels around 1050 for punching paper for fun)

Universal is my favorite for 9mm, HP38 for .45.
(but none to be found....sigh)

Lots of things I could list but the only one I see around at the moment is the WSF. I picked up 4lbs and am happy with it.
Some of the older Winchester pamphlets have more load data than is listed now.
If you get some WSF PM me and I can send it to you.

CFE P 4.6Gr behind a 124 Gr MBC LRN works fine for me. Soft shooting and clean.

PV had some CFE Pistol a few weeks back, but I didn't get any as I didn't have the cash at the time (had bought nearly 40# of other powders). In hindsight, I should have begged / borrowed the funds to add the 8 or 16# to the order. I'll keep an eye out and if it comes available again, I'll pick some up.

BE86 and Titegroup have worked well for me in both cals.
I had good luck with VV N320 as well.

For some reason WSF dosen't seem to be high on peoples list but I have been having good luck with it, meters well, fairly clean.
Price is right at around $20lb.

I've had great results with CFE Pistol in 9 and 45. So far my two favorites are 5.0gr under 124gr lrn seated to 1.155" in 9mm and 5.4gr under a 230gr lrn seated to 1.225" in 45. The load for 9mm is the max listed, but it shoots great and the 45acp load is the minimum load listed and also shoots great.
