I have bought a few rifles and need about 4 or 5 of them sighted-in. My AR15 has an EOtech for instance. I'm more of a gun collector than shooter, so I don't know where outside of the Cleveland area to go, and basically how to do it. I'd probably spend 100 shots per rifle just getting it right!

Does anyone have a place I can go shoot and maybe get some help with sighting scopes, red dots and the like? I've bought several guns over the years and just didn't shoot them....but would like them accurate if I do.

Private property for anyone on THR willing to help is just fine! I think I only need 100 yards.

Best deal going is the state ranges. Buy a permit anywhere you buy hunting or fishing license. 24 bucks for a year or five bucks for a day. The closest one to the Cleveland area is Grand River. 25, 50 and 100 yard ranges. Closed Jan and Feb due to cold, Mon and Tue because police use it.

ETA: I go pretty often. If you'd like, PM me and we'll set up a Saturday. I'm willing to help you dial in.

The best way to get the most out of any rifle is to become a good rifleman.
The gun is only a part of it.
See if there's a rifleman training facility in your area.
Or look for an Appleseed event.
Having someone else determine the setup of your rifles really won't help that much, other than maybe determining if any of them are defective.
Not too likely, though.

I think that 1911 guy has a good idea for the OP. He can give some help making sure sights are mounted correctly ,and help the OP dial the sighting into his eye usage.
I don't think valnar is interested in becoming a riflemen. He just wants to pick it up and put the sight on the target and shoot. While certainly he will never shoot enough to be good at it, he can at least have a chance at hitting the target with a sighted in gun.

Then who knows - he might find he likes shooting ?

PS: Clean them before sticking them back into the safe.

Yep, you got it. I live in Cleveland so I have to drive a ways to shoot a rifle. Indoor pistol ranges are easier.

I just bought a few rifles, want to make sure they work, and are somewhat accurate. If I ever visit friends in the country where I can shoot tin cans or something, I won't necessarily have the time, targets or ability to sight them in at that time.

Grand River is my go to for sighting in. Its gonna be your best option aside from private land.

Id take 1911 guy up on his offer. Theres a group of people on this board in the Cleveland area and all of them are very helpful and generous. Im sure a PM to any of 'em would take time to help you get setup right.

Oh yeah! I didn't see the edit with the offer. I'll PM you ahead of time when I get a free Saturday. Thank you!

Grand River is the place to go, I'm there pretty much there every saturday or sunday. I get there at opening at 9:00am. Just ask the guys at the gate for "Phil". PM me also if you want to know when I'm going to be there. I keep a bench rest for rifles in my car.

I sent Haywood a PM to that effect. I went once, will never go back.

Signs say "Please do not shoot the buildings". Buildings have holes.
Management is arrogant beyond words.
Whole place is generally dumpy.
Their world revolves around shotgunning. All else is a lesser sport and they make sure you know it.

I learned all this in a single one hour visit. That was enough.

How about AA on Fenstermaker Road off 442? I never shot there, just herd about it.

Yeah, I have not had good experiences at A&A. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Grand River is a nice range and the Park Rangers that are the ROs are easy going and nice to talk to. I just wish so many people would stop finding out about this gem; it's been pretty crowded lately. :D

At Grand River the weekend warriors show up on Saturdays and gets really crowded by around 11:00. I try to get there at 9:00 sharp when it opens. A lot of the time I try to hit it on Sunday mornings. Once in a while I try to make a long weekend and go on Friday.

In 2017 it is supposed to be completely rebuilt. They might even put in a 200 yard range if all the ducks fall into place. Also will be a shorter pistol range to use. The project was to happen next year but they had a problem with another range a little south in Ohio. It is down in Delaware, Ohio. Seems that range had a stream behind the backstop which the EPA found lead in so the range was shut down and moved on the sight to stay clear of the water.

The Grand River public shooting range is on my list of places I really need to visit. I have yet to get out there. This summer for sure!

I generally shoot outdoors at Kelbly's located in N. Lawrence Ohio or about an hours drive for me from Bedford Heights in the Cleveland suburbs. Membership is about $125 a year I think. Nice ranges out to 200 yards. The place is home to the Super Shoot in bench rest competition so no shortage of bench rest guys there.

Looking for a new indoor range. I shot at Stonewall for decades but I am done with them.

I haven't been shooting lately, but Stonewall is easily the closest range to me. What's going on there?

Not sure how close/far from Eastlake you are but, there used to be a decent gun shop with an indoor range either on Lakeshore or Vine. Been a number of years since I used to live in South Euclid and my streets may be a bit off but, that's where I to go to if I was wanting indoor, out of the cold practice.

Yeah, I remember years ago there being a range up there. Eastlake isn't bad, maybe a 30 min ride up 271 then RT 2 East a few miles. Worked in Euclid till I retired a few years ago. Time is something I have plenty of.
Went to a new indoor range in Berea this past weekend. Really nice, new, very clean and very nice people running it. Only 6 shooting stalls so good luck on a busy day. I forgot to ask if members went to the top of a wait list?

Big Bore Specialties. They were on Vine street but are now closed.
That was it, Big Bore. Didn't a new range open out east? I seem to recall reading about it and seeing it on the local news. I am also seeing this:

Ron, agree concerning Stonewall not a very good place anymore. During the off season (winter) I head over to the new place in Berea called Select Fire. Nice clean safe place to shoot. Close to the Xmas season they offer a 3 month membership for only $99. Good deal compared to there $19 hour charge.

Seems like a lot of new people seeking out places to shoot the last couple of years. Must be all the new folks our president is getting into buying guns!

I'm in Erie. Not sure how far from you that is, but if you want to come here we can go to my range and I can help you out.
