but, Everybody has plastic of composite on their ARs.. how about something with some nice grain structure.

I kept the adjustable stock for various shooters to use.
It's Walnut and Oak accents.
The walnut us actually pretty light, but not that a 20" bull barrel rifle is going for anything in the light range.

I like everything but the fore end. How about attaching a Tommy Gun style forward pistol grip onto the aluminum free floated for end? Lose the pickets - they make the fore end diameter too big

Actually I like it. While I am not fond of the handguard I like the stock and grip. You did a real nice job and really the only person who needs to like it and be happy with it is you.

I may not like it (the front), but it's different I will say that. I wouldn't worry about so much what others think if you can please yourself that's what really matters. Looks like you have some skills, I have always wanted to laminate my own stock one day but fitting a blank to a barreled action is another set of skill I don't possess

Something about that just seems wrong to me.
I know my opinion is just one of millions, and that makes the "world go round"

But that's almost as uncomfortable for me to look at, as the first stainless synthetic model 94 with a Piccatiny rail was.

I like it! You are a craftsman for sure.
I dont mean to detract from it but, If theres a part that doesnt flow as well as the rest, its the handguard.
IMO Itd be real neat if you crafted an A1 style for end.

I'm with Clang. Drop the popsicle sticks and try a different handguard. Will be very nice then...but if it floats your boat then keep on keeping on with it. I like wood on ARs, tones down the tacticool and makes thr rifle more appealing to those of us who dislike the plastic fantastic.

I think the forearm would be better with just 4 wooden ribs. It would make it less bulky, look better and easier to grip.

Regarding the handguard, I like the idea of it. Personally, the increase in diameter is more than I'd like, but strips of wood laying in line with the barrel isn't so bad in itself.

On 2nd look, try it with the top 3 wood rails removed.

It would balance out the wood and black, and slim up the front end.

Great workmanship, really like the stock and grip. Not a huge fan of the handguards though.

The point being that enough people enjoy wood furniture on an AR that there are complete rifle for sale in that configuration. The OP is not in the minority. Here I like the look, but sadly lack the funds to purchase something like that right now. To the OP: fantastic job and one of a kind, looks great.

I like it.
IMO, I think it would look better with a shorter foregrip and slightly longer buttstock. The proportions would look better that way.
Either way I think it's a neat concept and you obviously know your way around a wood shop.

I will admit I am not a fan of the AR Wal-NUT club, rather have an old lever gun with a saddle ring.

Agreed, the fore end is my LEAST favorite. My original attempt was turning (literally and figuratively ) out FANTASTIC. Right until I screwed up.

I will most likely rework the front hand guard, even if you guys had liked it.
Though fat is kinda nice.. to grip..

The "next" one will have an A2 length butt stock.. to get more wood grain to show. I had not seen the telescoping one.. so I HAD to try it.
