Kahr CW 9 or S&W Shield 9mm. I am looking for a ccw in 9mm. And its down to these two. I have shot both, handled both. I think I am leaning toward the Shield. I like the look and feel better.
The Kahr was fine also, just like the Shield.

AnyGunners have thoughts?

Cant speak on the shield, but ANYTHING should be better than the Kahr CW series. I've had one in 9, and 45, they were gone in a week. Go with the shield, I say so, because I see an overwhelmingly positive response from all who have them. I also wouldn't bother looking at the p series either. Theyre far more expensive, and not much better.

I looked at the Shield, CM9, and the Beretta Nano. I went with the CM9 because to me it was more compact than the Shield and more ergonomic than the Nano. I also liked the DAO trigger on the CM9; not too long and nice and smooth.

I've had good luck with S&W guns, and their service department. Based on that alone, I'd go with the Shield.

There are horror stories from both companies, and good stories as well.

I have owned or now own a 9mm Shield, Kahr CW9, and the Glock 43 single stack 9mm. I bought the Shield to replace the Kahr. Sold the Kahr and have no regrets. Got the G43 to compare side by side with the Shield. I am keeping the Shield.

FWIW, my stock G43 had a 7.5 lb. trigger pull. Ghost makes 2 types of replacement connectors that reduce the pull considerably.

Shield for sure. I've shot those a fair bit and owned a CW9 for a while. The CW9 is fine and I really liked it but the Shield is way more gun for the same money (give or take). CW9's trigger is a loooong but smooth DA and it's fine (especially if you are used to shooting DA revolvers) but the Shield's is much better.

YMMV but I shot my CW9 fine and accurately out to about 20' but my groups *really* opened up past that. For me the Shield shoots every bit as accurately as Smith's full sized M&P offerings.

Had both. IMO, the Shield is the better-made firearm, but the CW9 carries more easily. I cannot reccomend a Kahr product based on their horrendous customer service & warranty. Go w/the Shield!

Glock 43? ....

The Glock 43 9mm sub compact is not on the list?
I own & carry a stock M&P Shield 9x19, no thumb safety. It meets my needs for now but I might flip over to a Glock 43 around Xmas-Thanksgiving.
I've seen LE sale prices for NIB 43 9mm models down to $350.00 or so. The M&P Shields fetch around $329-365.00 NIB. I don't shoot or carry any Kahrs so I can't remark on them.
I would say the M&P 9mm is a robust, well engineered CCW pistol. It comes with a S&W lifetime service plan and there's a slew of holsters/accessories for it.
I like the new bright TruGlo TFX sights ;) . That would benefit a carry Shield.
Some gun owners add the Apex trigger format too. I'm okay with the S&W format.

It never ceases to amaze when someone says I have narrowed my selections down to A and B yet people still feel compelled to answer "G". Maybe such posts should start off I have looked at all of the available options INCLUDING Glock and I am down to A or B.

I was down to the same choice. Ultimately, I went with a Shield. Between the two guns I was looking at, the Shield had much better fit and finish. Both are decent, well-regarded guns, though, so you can't really go wrong.

I was shooting at 25 yds today with my CW9 and a B-27 TARGET and pretty much all were center of mass about a 6" group I had 3 low they were my fault. At 10 yds I rapid fired a mag in to the head.

I have had this pistol in my safe a long time . Never fired it .Belong to a friend. I bought just before he passed away. Been 4 years so I have been shooting it some this week I really like the pistol. I just won't use +P to hard to control with my old hands.

I agree.

It's no different than if I said I've narrowed my car purchase down to a Chevy or a Ford midsize car. And then someone asks "What???? No Honda????:uhoh::confused:

Just because someone doesn't have a Glock as a finalist doesn't mean they didn't try one or handle one. It means that for some reason, the Glock didn't make the cut.

You started off by saying you like the look and feel of the Shield better. That should go a long way in the decision making process. I had a Kahr. The Shield is what I carry. It isn't going away. The Kahr was maybe a little smaller if you want to drop it in your pocket. In my opinion it also had more felt recoil. Shield all the way for me.

Yeah, the Shield's recoil is mild for its size. Makes extended practice very pleasant.

The man was looking for wisdom. Zerodefect gave him some.

Sounded like wisdom perfection to me.

It's one post out of many. Ignore it and move on if you choose.

Sheesh. Wrong side of bed for you?

I am in the minority here but the CW9 all the way.

Fired the Shield and was decent with it but I am way more accurate with my CW9s. They have been 100% reliable and to ME are the epitome of a great CCW.

Of all the single stack 9mm CCWs out there not one offers anything to compel me to try it to dethrone my CW9s.

My Wife and I have been using CW-9`s for several years now as our CCG`s. We also have Crimson Trace Lazers on both of them. The CW-9 with the CTL`s are we feel the best choice for us. They are very accurate and easily concealed and have a very soft controlable recoil. We try to shoot both of our CW-9`s several time a month and find them very easy to shoot. We enjoy shooting them and have had no problems what so ever with either of them and we really like the long trigger. We are getting older now, in our early 70`s, and we try to be more aware of what is going on around us. Times have changed, and we just don`t leave the house with out them.

Thanks for posting that message.
My point for bringing up the new Glock 43 9mm is to offer a new choice(if the forum member was unaware of it).
New pistols & designs come out constantly. Suggestions on gun forums are based on what's new or what might be a good selection.
Some forum members get way too uptight or "butt hurt"(a new internet slang term ;) ) over petty issues.

Also, I'd think the point would have more merit if the first member who asked the question was upset over it. Obviously they didn't say anything so maybe they didn't know of the new Glock 43.
