Did you teach your daughters to shoot?

Yes.

Both of my daughters do a very good job with rifle or pistol. One is pretty salty with a shotgun too. My youngest moved to Philly and I didn't see her for 3 years. When she came home for a visit the first thing that she wanted to eat was venison and the first thing that she wanted to do was shoot. THAT'S MY GIRL!:D

Yep. They shoot well. It took some time for them to get over the fear of recoil. Youngsters have very steady hands. If it ever stops raining, we plan on shooting at the rifle range some more. They have not shot my ar yet, and are looking forward to shooting it.

My 3 daughters know the basics that I taught them as well as going through 4H shooting sports program where they got their Hunters Ed card. They all are right handed left eye dominant shooters which makes it a challenge to set them up with guns. I let them shoot pistols right handed, but long guns with the left hand so their dominant eye will let them shoot better.

Daughter owned a CZ452 and AR15 before she was even born.

I took her shooting for the first time when she was 4...she is now 6 and I took her on her first camping/shooting trip yesterday.

My daughter can shoot with the best. She's freaky good at it and she rarely practices. She gave it up when she showed up her future ex-husband by shooting much better than he did. But if she wanted she could do very well at it.

I don't have any daughters, but I have many nieces. They all love range days with us, and have all learned to use a rifle and a few of them have learned to use pistols. I personally wouldn't have it any other way, and neither would they. A few of them loves to crawl under a car with me when I am fixing something or changing the oil. I wont have to change the oil in those vehicles and wont have to hunt for them that way.:) My wife learned at a young age to use a firearm, and is still pretty handy with them.

Can't speak from personal experience, as I only have one kid, a son. And thus far, he's only 1 year old, so I haven't even taught him how to shoot yet!

Speaking for my father though, he taught me how to shoot when i showed interest at around age 10 or 11. My sister never showed interest, and may not have ever even seen the family guns. Dad never pushed, or even tried to introduce her to it. Don't know why. She is just to the negative side of neutral as regards her feelings on gun ownership.

Didn't have a daughter, but did teach my daughter in law to shoot and take ccp. Wife ditto.

My little girl is nearly 5. When and if she shows some interest, I will be a very proud papa to teach her what I know.

She's already into archery, which is pretty cool:)

all 3 learned to clean a firearm before they got to shoot actually. Was part of my plan to prevent firearm issues. I never locked mine up. they knew where they all were. when they were little, I let them handle them. then I made them dissassemble them and clean them because they were handled. nothing like a 6 year old frustrated beyond all get out because the mechanical issuses are at the limit of their understanding. Basically I taught them to associate handling them with it being such a big PITA to clean, that they became tools, not "ooh shiny" hidden in the closet. Seems to have worked perfectly. AFAIK they were never messed with. But I digress. All 3 learned to shoot, all 3 have helped me reload, and all 3 (well 2, the one's a bit young for that yet) received a pistol as a wedding gift.

One of them actually still shoots with me from time to time. She enjoys competing with me for bullseyes. I get to play equal parts proud dad and "stay away from my daughter psycho dad" at the range when she turns heads with her targets..

One covets my 1911, the other loves her revolver, and the third seems to be developing a soft spot for the hi-power. couldn't be more satisfied.

I believe my daughter was 3 when she first shot a BB gun... started shooting a .22 Savage at 5, shot an AR when she was 6, and at 8 shot my LCR .38 and her Mom's Keltec 380. She is 9 now but we don't get to shoot together as often as I'd like.

Can't wait to see what she picks for her CCW at age 21. Whatever it is, I'm sure she'll be extremely proficient with it.

Yes, both of my daughters know how to shoot. The oldest doesn't get to shoot very much these days, as she lives out of the country.

My younger daughter shoots quite a bit. She owns a couple of guns and has access to most of my guns. She also brought some friends home from college to help her shoot up all my ammo..............:banghead:

Of three, only the youngest showed interest. By the time she was eleven she could disassemble each gun, clean, then reassemble (even the M3HB & 1919A4). My only regret is not having any photos.

My daughter does well with a 1911. She did better with it than her brother or any of the boyfriends ever did, and she can out shoot her husband who is a LEO. Yes, her old daddy taught her how to shoot.

Not only did I teach my daughter to shoot, I even competed against her heads up a few times!!

There is a real art to keeping the competition close enough she has a real chance of winning, and yet being able to close it out, on the last target.

Sadly, my daughter is gone now.............I would give just about anything to have one more chance to hold my daughter......

Oh yea, my daughter has hunted since legal age in Colorado and taken her share of nice Bucks, elk and a mountain lion.
She probably has more and better guns than many of her male contemporaries and shows them up regularly with gun, bow and fishing rod. Pretty as her mother and should have been a model.

I taught my kids to shoot. They are on track teaching my grand daughters to shoot as well. We like the "load/shoot/reload" mantra!

Mark.

ps: My wife and my sons wives can all shoot. Makes for an interesting day out!

Yup, bows, rifles and handguns.
Rifles started pre K.
Miss buying bricks of Remington CBs..........................

Oldest does once in a while (in 20's now).

Middle kid is a natural, but in college and a hippie (temporary we hope).

Youngest loves to shoot, is small, blasts Gramp's 7mm-08 Striker whenver given the chance. Her other fave is an Anschutz Exemplar, clanging swinger IHMSA steel.

None of the kids liked my HS Sharpshooter, but loved Papaw's Match Target Woodsman. My sis and I shot that thing when we were little too!

When the oldest was maybe 12...............all 80# of her............she put on quite a show with my Combat Commander at an outdoor state range.

Couple of old timers w milsurp just sat back and watched her shoot reg 230 ball factory and swiss cheese pop cans at 25 yards, offhand.

Freakin' young eyeballs are amazing things.

Muffs, safety glasses and grinning from ear to ear. She, and the two old timers :)
It was great!
