I brought a new .357/9mm Blackhawk convertible home last week. I probably paid too much, but these things are kinda rare around here and I've been wanting one for a while. I like shooting 9x19 in it as I have a Dillon Square Deal set up in 9 that's pretty fast. :D Still have to cast the bullets, but at least the reloading part is fast. I load my other calibers on a Lee auto indexing turret which is fast, but not AS fast. This Dillon is left over from my days 20 years ago of shooting IDPA. I used to burn one HECK of a lot of 9mm in practice and competition and still have lots of components around. I used to pick up lots of brass at the range, too.

Anyway, I gave 600 for this thing, 599 actually, but what's a dollar? :D While I was at it, I pulled out my other SA revolvers for a family pic.

I notice this new Blackhawk has a smaller frame and frame window than my older .357 Blackhawk. The cylinders ain't even CLOSE to the same length. The new gun seems more compact, more handy. I like it a lot. :D It shoots good, too, and my old jacketed IDPA load 9mm goes into about 1.25" off bags at 25 yards. I'd thought the 9mm cylinder would lack something, but I'm impressed. :D Seems to like my .38 WC load (don't have a .38/.357 that don't) and seems to like my 140 grain JHP .357 carry load the best. It shoots a 180 XTP danged accurate, though, got some more experimentation to do with THAT bullet.

I'm not one for blackpowder, but I do have a liking for the Single Action revolver. Think I may have hinted at that from time to time hereabouts.

Having said I don't care for the black powder revolver, I believe the Colt 1860 Army revolver is one of the handsomest sixguns ever made, based on looks alone.

I have spent over sixty years as a handgunner, and always fall back on the old Single Actions. I hold them in such esteem as to always capitalize the term, regardless of maker.

Beautiful wood in those grips. I like the feel of those flat top Blackhawks. I have some wonderful double action revolvers but always spend more time with the single actions. That includes 3 ROAs and other C&Bs. It helps that I'm not in a hurry to shoot up my ammo. :D

Those are not original flat top grips and that is not an original flat top from the 50-60s.

Nice family portrait! Like the stainless Blackhawk in .45 with the engraving and stag grips. Great BBQ gun!

The Flattop Blackhawks are basically on the New Vaquero frame. I had one in .45 Colt/ .45acp.

Fine lookin' collection of single actions! Love my old 3 Screw Blackhawk. Now you need to add a New Vaquero. My new one is a .357:

Man I hate them naked guns. And besides, we likely have some youngsters who venture here. For Pete's sake, dress them in leather.

Oh boy this could drift in a hurry!

Maybe he needs to add an "old" Vaquero, in .45 Colt, to his collection as well:

Cimarron Model P (Colt 1873 clone), 4 3/4" .45 Colt. My new addiction. Gonna have to get one in the 3 most common barrel lengths (5.5" Nickel would be nice, and 7.5" of sorts). Might try one from Taylors & Co next. I may also have to pick up a Cimarron Thunderball 3.5" in .45 Colt too.
