any kind of malfunction? picky with ammo brands? wasn't lubed and malfunctioned? ect?

reliability is #1 for me. my s&w shield malfunctioned twice with steel case and aluminum case ammo. i know those are a tough test and does not mean my shield is junk but its not glock.

Nope.

Got mine in '09. Works perfectly.

It shoots best with Rem. GS 125+P. Second place is Speer GD SB 135+P.

BTW, Glocks will fail with crappy ammo too. Oh yes! Your Shield should be perfect with decent ammo.

Not what you asked but those don't sound like problems with the gun.

Picky with ammo is usually the ammo's fault. I've had revolvers misfire, and even lodge the bullet in the barrel. That's not a "gun" malfunction. That's an ammo malfunction. Ultimately, my malfunction since I reloaded the ammo.

If you don't properly clean and lube your revolver...or semi...that's what we called an OFU at the factory. Another Operator ......UP.

Any gun will malfunction under those circumstances. What's amazing to me is the number of times they keep on working.

well thats true. i find the shield too heavy for pocket. i guess two lcr revolvers or to save weight, two lcp. i trust the lcr more.

I have 2 lcr's.. a 38spl, & a 9mm. The cylinder release is flakey on the 38, but i've shot a lot of rounds through it. I called ruger, & they sent me a rma # to return it, but i haven't done it yet. It still works.. i just have to jiggle the button some.

The 9mm is newer, & no problems with it as yet. Only 5 rounds, but easy to carry a moonclip or 2, & reloading is about as fast as a magazine. I have ~ 3 different pistols i CC.. a sccy in 9mm, Ati fatboy in 45acp, & the lcr's. The ATI is the biggest, but it has the most bang. 12+1 in 45acp. The sccy has really grown on me, with 11+1 & very compact. but the LCRs are compact, ergonomic, & always go bang.

Ruger LCR .38spl +P ...

My friend purchased a NIB(new in box) LCR .38spl +P with a Lasermax Crossfire red laser in 2013. He's happy with it. :D
It's only fired 300-400 of factory rounds but it's had no misfires/problems.

I'd buy my own Ruger LCR but there are a few other revolvers I'd choose first.
I'd add the newer 3" LCR .38spl +P 5 shot revolver looks great for a entry level gun owner or new shooter/CCW license holder.

For cleaning/CLP, he uses Mpro7-LPX, www.mpro7.com . Even a LCR needs a light amount of gun oil or CLP.

I barely maintain mine other than to wipe the dust bunnies off it once in a while and it still runs great.

The only issue I ever had with my LCR was I would short stroke the trigger. In rapid fire I would try to take another shot before full reset. I realize it was me but its a lot easier for me to change guns than me. I have returned to J frames for snubs. I have a Shield with 1100+ rounds and never an issue.
