I too tried to conceal a 6" model 629,,,

I too tried to conceal a 6" model 629,,,
It was winter and I used a rig very similar to the one described by Taurus 617 CCW.

My heavy coat did conceal the gun well enough,,,
And the shoulder rig was well made and comfortable.

But the weight got to me after just one hour,,,
And the inherent problem with shoulder rigs arose,,,
I could not remove my coat while walking around the store.

Oklahoma had not passed open carry as yet.

Needless to say I only did it to see if I could pull it off,,,
I much prefer my S&W Model 36, my Ruger LCP, or my Bersa Thunder 380.

If I weren't a gun nut/range rat,,,
I could probably sell all of my other guns.

4" 629

The Hoffners "Miurage" IWB works really well.

Mine conceals my 4" 629 pretty comprehensively.

You can see the bulge there under my vest if you know what to look for, but pretty well concealed, nonetheless.

Para P14 is the biggest auto I've carried but will prolly get a smidge bigger when I carry my CZ 75 tac sport, I've also carried my 5.5" 480 Ruger BFR OWB under a jacket.

If only counting autoloaders, a Beretta 92FS. I quit that as soon as I tried it.

Back in the day, I'd stuff my Ruger GP100 (6" bbl) in the small off my back to walk around my property. Damn thing always tried to make me moon people.

Largest, my MP5 in a shoulder rig with 4 mags on the off side.

This is the same gun in its pocket holster. :D

On a daily basis for a little over 40 years now, Colt GM's and Commanders (about 25 years), SIG P220's, 226's, 229's (about 7 years), Glock 17's (about 8 years now). A few others mixed in here and there as well.

Ive also carried 4" S&W Model 19's, 28's and 29's, and a couple of others, but that was awhile ago, and mostly during hunting season.

When I started carrying, cops were still mostly carrying revolvers, and a 1911, was a Colt or GI gun, and there werent a whole lot of choices when it came to things, guns, holster, or gear wise. "Normal", were guns like above, "small" were things like J & K frame snubbies, and PPK's, with minis being the Baby's and Colt vest pockets, etc.

Having carried full sized guns for so long now (and usually a back up as well), I dont get all the fuss you often hear, about the troubles some people seem to have, carrying anything bigger than a Seecamp.

Glock17 EDC
14" Desert Eagle with vertical shoulder holster if the weather is cool.
Ankle rig is my most favorite, easy on easy off and it's with me. I realized long ago I'm not ever going to do a quick draw if someone gets the drop on me. Situational awareness is my best friend. Ankle in the car also doesn't get locked out by the seat belt.
I also will use my should holster weather permitting. Also use a Comp-Tac IWB.
Have also been trying to get used to a quality Bellyband that I recently acquired.
Love the desert eagle! I hate to say this but when anyone says they carry a concealed desert eagle I always think of the move The Matrix. I hope you don't walk up to me and call me "Mr. Anderson", lol!

Certainly not on any regular basis, but many years ago, I ovcasionally carried a S&W M29, 8 3/8" bbl, in a shoulder rig, in the winter, out in the woods, under a big jacket. Subsequently decided my 6 1/2" M29 was just as good for these trips and easier to carry.

I carried a Beretta 92F pretty much all last Winter. OWB holster and decent cover garment. Did the same with a S&W model 19 with 4" barrel and a Ruger GP100 with 3" just to see how they carried.

I'm only 5'8" and they carried just fine. They certainly let me know that they were there, but they weren't torture, either. Keys to success were holster, belt, and cover garment being up to the task.

I carried a Govt Model 1911 concealed for years.

Now I carry a 3 1/2" N Frame S&W revolver in one configuration or another every day.

An old cowboy in a leather vest don't draw much attention

Four inch Smith Model 57 back in my revolver days. Mostly in a shoulder holster when horse back in Grizzly Bear country. Replaced it with a 4" Model 29.

The biggest I carry (and conceal) from time to time is my 18" Buntline. I only have a belt holster (made by forum member el indio), so a long coat is required.

In the winter months im able to conceal a smith 686 or a pair of 1911s. Its all about having the right clothing and holsters for the task.

I carried a Ruger P345 IWB in a High Noon Split Decision and still can. I've carried the Ruger on a two mile walk in jeans. I now carry my PM45 in the same brand holster because my Dunlap condition makes it more comfy (my belly done lapped over my belt). It sits nicely in shorts, jeans, and dress pants. I wear it under polo shirts and button down sport shirts because it sits against my undershirt and is covered by the shirt.
