AR vs boltgun

My AR sits in my safe while the CZ 5.56 bolt gets a trip to the range every time. I got tired of pulling the trigger repeatedly and watching my ammo supply dwindle faster than I liked. This one makes me slow down and think about my shots.
IMO, that is a silly statement. It's you not the rifle that is pulling the trigger faster. You are basically stating that because the AR15 is semi that you feel the need to pull the trigger faster than if you were shooting a bolt action. If you are not disciplined to control your trigger pulls, than bolt action would be for people like yourself.

I've never had an issue with shooting my AR15s the same way I shoot my bolt action rifles...which is one controlled shot at a time. I like to have he option to shoot faster if I need/want to, but I don't shoot the AR15s any faster due it them being semi auto.

oh i sure do. i shoot as fast as i can keep rounds on target.

Novice shooters aren't going to be more accurate with a 5.56 bolt action rifle.

AR's are plenty accurate. Work it out with the AR first, then move on to bigger caliber bolt actions. Can't you just kneel or go prone? Or is this a stand up and shoot comp thing?

Swimming is fine, I just pull the trigger as my scope is swimming towards the target. Similar to walking and shooting at the same time with iron sights. Also try zooming out more.

Ruger has come out with a rifle that at first glance looks like an AR type rifle, but a second look reveals it has a bolt and is supposed to group 1/2 min. of angle and be affordable to boot!
Best of both worlds in that bad boy !

You get better shots with a bolt action and are less likely to just keep pulling a trigger. Bolt-actions tend to be more accurate.

A properly built AR is just as accurate as a bolt action. If you don't have the discipline to stop pulling the trigger just because it's a semiauto maybe you should reconsider your ownership of firearms. I'm not even sure what you mean by "you get better shots".

I was in the same position. Had MK12 that sat while I shoot my bolt rifles. Sold it to fund my other passion, fishing.

I'm gonna say you've got a case of scope jerk. With iron sights, you can't really see the target anyway, so it's easy to focus on the front sight like you're supposed to. It's easy to accept your wobble zone, and just squeeze through it, like you're supposed to.

Slap a scope on it, and suddenly you can see your target. In fact, you can see individual parts of it. Suddenly you can see that you are, in fact, wobbling all over the target. As a result, you tense up, trying to hold the gun "still." You muscle it around, trying to hold smaller than you really can. You jerk the trigger, trying to rush the shot when it does happen to be lined up "right."
