Grrr, I learn about the Ruger shortly after buying a Savage 12 LRP. Darn.

It'll cost me a lot more to outfit the Savage but, ce la vie.

on the up side, odds are the, even with a 1/2 MOA guarantee from Ruger, after load development and any small tweeks needed to perfect its setup (glass bed, refine fit to you, etc) the Savage will produce better and more consistent results.

Looks like a cool rifle though in general. There is something neat about pushing tiny pieces of metal through the atmosphere to perforate tiny cellulose objects hundreds of yards away and make the perforations touch.

The ultimate point and click interface.

If they're as nice as the reviews say, I'm surprised they're priced where they are. The ability to use so many mags is impressive.

Looks like they put a lot of thought into this.

I just bought one in 6.5. Paid the inflated LGS price ($1050 plus tax), but figured it was worth it with as hard as these seem to be to find. I actually got lucky... they had it in the back and not in inventory yet. Unfortunately my permission for my privilege to bear arms (4473) got delayed, so I wont be able to take possession until possibly next week. Funny enough I also just bought a Savage 12 LRP in 6.5 CM. Looks like it will be up for sale shortly. This Ruger seems to be everything I am wanting in a precision rifle. The stock design is perfect. The trigger is fantastic (it is almost identical to the red accutrigger on my Savage). With the threaded muzzle I will be able to slap my SiCo Omega on it as soon as I have permission for it too >:-O . It takes mags that I already have a pile of 20 and 25 rounders of, and it is definitely light enough to take hunting. I think I just found my antelope gun. Hell, it might even be my new tree stand deer gun. I have to say, this is probably the coolest single new firearm to hit the market since I've been shooting. The fact that you can get a legit sniper/LRP competition/long range hunting rig ready to go out of the box for $1000 is insane. A true game changer. I'd say Ruger has "best new gun of 2015" in the bag with this one. I have never gone out and bought a gun the week it came out before, but this one appears to be worth it. In case you can't tell, I am EXCITED about this thing! More to come once I get some range time with her.

I'm not familiar with that. Does it come from your spouse? ;)

My local FFL informed me of this Ruger option on Friday, just as I was completing the transaction for a new FN SPR A2. I briefly considered changing horses in mid stream, but decided against it.

I recently bought a the new Savage A17 and I'm having fits with it. Sometimes being the first guy on the block to have something new means you get to find all the problems R&D didn't catch.

Precisely the reason I'm waiting on this. That said, it's the front runner. I'd prefer it in 260, only because I have some brass saved up but that's about the smallest matter. 6.5C will do just fine.

A local shop here will be getting one on Friday in 6.5. I'm going to check it out. If he doesn't already have a buyer I wouldn't mind walking out with it. I've made some decent headway on clearing out the safe to make room [read finance the rifle and scope].

Wow my dealer is getting me the 6.5 for $920, but he says they might not ship for a couple of months??? How are you guy's dealers getting them sooner than that?

The dealer I got mine from is a very large, high volume dealer that probably gets more shipments allocated from the distributor than most. Mainly I think I just got lucky though. The day before, people came in and bought all the RPRs that were in inventory. My rifle was overlooked and logged in late, and had just been added to inventory when I called asking about them. I see people are paying up to $1500 for them on Gunbroker. Good luck finding yours.

I'm a lefty, and I'm about to start dumping most of my left hand bolt guns and going with right hand guns. I find I only shoot from the bench these days, and for that I would prefer a right bolt gun and a left hand friendly stock.
If you ever have a full case head blowout you will appreciate a gun that vents away from the shooter like a explicitly designed left-handed action. I'm firmly convinced the only reason I still have my vision and all the fingers on my right hand is that I was shooting a LH rifle when it happened to me. The jet of gas that blew out of the safety hole was so powerful it swept full boxes of ammo off the shooting station next to me. If I had been shooting a RH gun that jet would have been directed into my right hand/arm. Other than my military guns I have gotten rid of all my RH guns.

Reaching over an AR style receiver to work the bolt looks really awkward. Thanks, Ruger for making this an easy decision for me.
