Just took a NIB Glock 17 gen 4 to the range. This is my first gen 4 but I have 4 Glock's. That does not make me an expert.
Before I left I changed to connector to a 3.5lb which I had and grabbed 200 of my reloads. I have never had any problems with my reloads with any glock I own (G21-G30-G26). None of my glocks are picky eaters.
2 of the first 10 were failure to feed. I wasn't really concerned, break-in, new barrel, reloads I can work that out. I did think it was a bit inaccurate but that again could just be me, new gun, different grip I'll adjust.
After about 100 rnds I had another feed problem. Looking down I find the upper pin (locking block pin) ready to fall out of the right side. Just a bit unnerving. Field strip, looking for damage or a problem and found none. Reassembled another 75 rnds not only flawless but significantly more accurate. Pin remained tight and in place.
I would be happy if I were the cause but I can't figure out how or why. The only possibility I can think of is reversing the order of assembling pins the first time, maybe leaving the slide stop lever spring above rather than below the smaller upper pin. I'm not even sure it possible to do that but I'm at a loss.
Any comments, suggestions or solutions (other than take it to a gunsmith and only use factory ammo) would be appreciated.

Send it back to Glock, they should hook you up. If the pin is walking the tolerances are off in either the pin or the frame (?)
I had to send a G4 19 back because it wouldnt extract. They eventually sent me a replacement gun.. That one worked fine but I sold it rather quickly after getting it and stuck with my gen 3. The only Gen 4 I have kept is a 35 and its just a back up gaming gun. So sees limited use, but has had a few failures.

..could be that pin was causing the problem. I have a ruger redhawk that was light striking the primer. When i took it apart, the pin under the grip was almost fallen out, which held the hammer spring. Since putting it back, there have been no further light strike issues.

Mistakes can happen and I wouldn't be too quick to return the gun. Field stripping does not void the warranty. What you need to do for proper pin assembly per the Glock Armorer Manual is always remove the pins left to right and install from the right side to the left. Always remove the locking block pin first and always install it first. If a visual shows no frame or pin damage I wouldn't worry any further.

Because the new recoil spring is so tight, lock the slide back for a day and that will take care of that. Sigs often need the same thing.
