I just 'shot' my crossbow in the basement and hit the target in the middle.

While I am a rifleman 99% I did get a bow decades ago and walked around with it but never got really interested.

However when my state made crossbows legal for hunting I did all that's necessary and also got one.

I shot it in the basement into the styrofoam target and hit the center and it's quiet!

For only a couple of hundred dollars we can add a new dimension.

They do look like fun. I need to get one of those to play around with.

Crossbows are legal to hunt with in Pa. Buddy of mine got one and has taken a few whitetail with it. They do look like fun. Maybe someday I'll talk myself into one.

I picked up a Mission MXB360 this summer for use this September on Elk and Mule deer. Like you I'm a rifleman at heart, but the crossbow has been pretty fun, and it opens up all of September for hunting in WY. I got a really good deal on mine, but the arrows that came with it were kind of mediocre... I'm waiting on some custom spec arrows from South Shore Archery right now. I'm also trying to decide on a good broadhead... I'm thinking Slick Tricks or G5 Montech, what are you using?

All else being equal, I'd rather be hunting with a traditional muzzleloader but I bought a Parker Thunderhawk last year to get more time in the woods. This marked my first foray into archery season. Been shooting traditional bows for several years but never hunted with them. I really like the Thunderhawk and am impressed with its accuracy. I took a small doe last year and look forward to using it again this season.

My wife likes hers. She has one due to bursitis in one of her shoulders, she can't draw a compound bow. She can hunt up here during archery season with a note from her doctor. She's taken a few hogs in Texas with it.

I bought this HuntMaster crossbow many years ago after an accident shattered my elbow. It never healed properly. Back in those days, one needed a licensed Dr. to sign a form in order to hunt with a crossbow. Since then, I've downed many deer with this unique and fun hunting tool.
