Do You Have an Excellent Handgun that was Inexpensive?

Oh I already know how to do that. But the fallacy in many of these calculators is the enhanced ability to pay as raises come and promotions are garnered.

I was just addressing the point at face value.
you can put your hourly income/yearly salary in, and correlate 'ability to pay' as well :)

barring that we're just throwing numbers out, hard to actually relate them to good/bad value or cheap/expensive, sure a gun might have been $50 in 1950 but it sure wasnt cheap!

I have guns that I purchased decades ago that obviously would bring a much greater price in today's market. When you factor inflation into the equation, the increase in real value (dollars) isn't so great. However, I recently purchased a nice 60s vintage S&W model 10 for $200 that not only looks good but is one heck of a shooter as well. To me that model 10 has proven to be an excellent gun at a cheap price that has become a fovorite of mine.

I purchased $40 worth of chances on a Ruger 1911. Cheapest I ever paid for a pistol!

Lucky that day.

Almost forgot. Gave an older senior citizen and his wife a ride to their car at a trail head. They were wondering around our hunting lease trying to find their way to a paved road. It would have been about an additional six mile walk for them. He noticed I had a revolver on my hip. He asked if I wanted a model 19 4" Smith. Met at his house the next day to do the paper work. That's home with me now.

Oh I know I will catch it for this but, I have a Llama Max I 45, and a Mini Max that last total I have around 10,000 rounds through each. I did change the recoil springs and I use the Wilson recoil buffers, but I really use handguns, and I cannot fault either of these. If I recall both were under $300.00 new.

Its not fancy, but I lucked into a Taurus 607 at a local gunshop, and ended up with it for around 300$...
Its been used a bit, and shows it, but it feels amazing and Im happy to have gotten it.

I think my favorite thing is that its a 7 shot .357! :)

My first centerfire revolver bought from a local police dept sell off of their carry units in the 1960's was $15

More recent would be Rossi 720 in .44 special for $250 and a second one for $265 .

Very recently a Rossi 712 .357 mag compensated for under $200

Nothing too special, but...

Police trade-in Glock 22 .40 w/ trijicons for $374 earlier this year. Boring but dead nuts reliable. My current carry gun. Will probably get a KKM 9mm barrel for it.

S&W Model 10 square butt pencil barrel for $180 a few years ago, fair condition. Sold it to my wife's cousin eventually. I missed it and bought it back. It's as accurate as a laser with 158gr semiwadcutters over 4 gr of unique at 1.453" OAL.

If gifts count, I received two pre-models. A 36 Chief & 19.

my best find was a k-22 (1953 vintage) for 300 dollars back in 2002. has a scratch on the side of the barrel, otherwise in great shape.

Bought the Bersa Thunder 380 on a recommendation. Liked it so much that I sold it and bought the concealed carry version. One of the few pistols I own that hasn't jammed with any brand ammo I put in it. Fits my hand well and is as accurate as I am. Looking for another used one to keep in a second hiding place. I was very surprised and pleased still.

Bersa Thunder .380. Purchased for my wife for camping trips. For under $300 incl. shipping and a second magazine plus a rubber grip , this little pistol is a gem. It's better in all respects than the SIG 232 that I have. Cheaper, easier on the hands and so far, more accurate. There have been a few FTF, but It's still under 200 rounds, and the only .380 ammo I have locally is flat nose. It's been a pleasant surprise. It ranks with my Cz's as best bang for the buck.

Kimber Custom (pre-Custom II) via my first sporting goods job for $500 straight up, and a Ruger 7.5" SBH .44mag second hand for $250. These also happen to be my most accurate pistols. $1000 for a Colt SAA nickel, NIB. I paid more for my Glock 19 than my Kimber... it happens! :) :) :)

Here lately there have been Taurus PT-111 Millenium Gen 2 pistols selling for at or around $199.99 online. I bought one recently. So far I only have 110 rounds through it but it went bang every time the trigger was pulled & I actually like it. I need to work with it more to get used to the trigger. I really like the ergos & the way the slide is melted though. I'm not in love with the trigger but I do believe it is fine for what it is. If anyone wants an inexpensive pistol that is a nice size for carry (G-26 size slide with a G-19 size grip) you might check these out there are a lot of reviews on the web about them.

A buddy sold me a S&W Model 38 (no dash) for $275.
Even tho I offered, he absolutely refused to take more.

My other great deals were a Zastava Model 57 (Yugoslavian Tokarev 7.62x25)
Paid $251 out the door.

Last February I bought it's cousin, a Zastava Model 70a 9mm Luger
Paid $263.19 out the door.

If we just count new retail the SW9VE is the winner. Everyone complains about the trigger but honestly most gun shops that carry DA revolvers have examples of worse. It has never failed to go bang, is accurate, carries well, and it sold for $299 with a $50 mail in rebate and two extra magazines (total of four).

If we count surplus, the cz82 after some tweaks. Under $200 before the night sights.

Beyond that? I can't count gifts, and except for the few that were "free" I haven't hit the real bargains some of you have found.

But earlier today I picked up a new candidate. 3" SP-101 in .327 federal. Never fired (still had the plastic disc on the cylinder end), complete package, new old stock. I had been planning to buy one of the new 4.2" models but they run $600 before shipping. This loses the fiber front site, adjustable rear, 1" of barrel, and the wood grip inserts, but also $200 of price.

Considering that I have a single seven .327 fed. that has all the missing features (though of course it lacks DA trigger) I think I hit a spot of luck. :)

I haven't been in the shooting/gun buying game long enough to get deals like some of you, but I was able to get a Glock 20 at Blue Label pricing, which is around $100 less than they're priced on Gunbroker and Buds.

I have two.

1. A model 60 S&W .38 spl. I picked it up at a pawn shop about 20 years ago. It had been used in a suicide (according to the pawn shop owner) and had not been cleaned immediately. This had resulted in some rust and pitting (minor) on the cylinder and sideplate. Yes, stainless steel will rust if not properly cared for. I gave $190 for it and it has worked perfectly, just not as pretty as it once was, but who is?

2. A S&W model 64, .38 spl 4" barrel. It was a trade-in from a security company and I bought it for $200 OTD. One of the best deals I have seen.
