Yes, I give a very light roll crimp that just barely rolls over the edge of the bullet.

Which is why it is good to trim the brass so they are all the same. I hate trimming and do not trim handgun brass but for this gun you need to and keep the brass separate.

I just read the S&W forum suggested and linked above by Rule 3. Glad I read it in-case I have some extraction issues or FTFeed issues. I have a nice resizing lathe which I have not used - so far have avoided loading rifle myself which is why I bough the resizer to begin with (never mind the .270 dies from Dillon) LOL

Rule3 are you flush or leaving a bit exposed as is mentioned in the S&W link?

I am flush exactly like the Rem factory ammo. I use a LFCD and a very slight roll crimp that just kisses the top of the bullet.

However mine are a bit shorter than the Hornady manual and Remington factory. Mine come to around 1.156 COL Hornady HBWC 148.

The Rem Bullet is a little different has more of a point in the center

It is all about trimming the brass to the same length.(trim to length)

Hornady 148 gr with 2.8 gr of BE

The new 52 is at my FFL and I have to pick it up this afternoon. I have 300 or so rounds made for the k38 which I'll try that have not received special treatment to see what happens. Reading tells me some 52's don't have difficulty and some do. My suspicion is heavily re-used cases will stretch out and if the 52 gets dirty or parts get worn that's when problems can start. Fortunately this gun has never been fired.

Never been fired?? Where has it been it's whole life?:)

If it is in the box it is worth a lot of money!!

Last made in 1993!! It only had 2 revisions from original
M52
m52-1
m52-2

We'll see when I get it. It is in the box and the seller says he cannot see evidence of it having been fired but bluing is faded on a couple parts of the pistol (?) I didn't ask him much about who/where he bought it but hes is not a newcomer on the S&W forum.

Don't know how bluing could be faded (worn?) if not shot unless it was on display and maybe sun fading???

Quick update for those who helped me: I was successful with my rounds without trimming the cases. The crimp was adequate at .378 and flush mounting did the trick. I had stoned the hooks and around the top of the mags a bit. Won't know if good enough for accuracy till I mount a dot. Reading glasses and iron sights don't serve me too well anymore.
