.45 carry pistol

I'm using the all-mighty relaible Glock 30 until Glock makes a reliable single stack 45ACP pistol .

Nah , Too many issues with the 36 in my opinion to put my money down on one. I'll wait for a while .

I carry a XDs in 9. I like it. I've also shot the XDs in .45. Harder to control so follow up shots are slower. But it's the same size as the 9mm and that disappears when I have it on my hip. You might not like the grip texture. I've read about people complaining that it is too aggressive. I don't notice it all to be honest. It doesn't even rub my skin all that much and I wear mine pretty much 24/7.

Colt's New Agent, if you can train yourself enough to get comfortable with the "gutter" sight picture. It does work and you can make accurate hits at the close-in distances in which a 3" .45 would likely see defensive use.

Otherwise, Colt's Defender, with the traditional Novak sights, has garnered a lot of fans.

I carried a Kimber CDP Pro for years until I came on some hard times and had to sell some of my higher end firearms. I replaced it with a Glock 30SF, While I've always loved Glock 9's I must admit the 30SF has been a pleasant surprise. It's a bit lighter than my CDP Pro, thicker but it carries 10+1, and I carry Glock 21 spare mags (13) for back up. It shoots just as accurate with LESS felt recoil. I can't say enough about the 30SF, and I've heard similar things about the thinner 30S. The Glock compact 45's are real underrated guns.

Fifteen years is not long enough? I know they had feeding issues when they were introduced but as far as I know they were resolved fairly quickly and quietly. As is normal with Glock.
My 36 has always run well. I did have a problem with the drop safety. But that was after over ten years of regular use. Even Glocks parts wear out now and then.

Oddly enough this thread made me think on checking out my 30S with some 9 round mags (the 10's pinch my pinky and don't feel great in the hand) and, wow, what a difference.

I curl my pinky 'round the bottom and I really notice a difference in stability and accuracy, the finger grooves finally fit just right and my pinky isn't pinched.

In addition, with the short mag the 30S isn't any bigger than a 26 or 27 in the dimensions that matter for me in CCW.

Reliable, accurate, easy to carry and, now, comfortable to shoot. What's not to love.

.45 and EDC being in the same sentence is amusing. .45's a good round, but technology has made 9mm and .40 S&W better carry calibers. You get more energy, higher capacity, and thinner pistols.

If you absolutely must have a .45 for carry because you shoot best with .45 or only reload .45, then I would say a Glock 30 and find JHP that's designed for short barrels.
Dang it, TT! I'm actually jonesin' for a LW Commander, used the SEARCH function for the first time on THR and out of the blue, BOOOM. Your comment struck a dissonant chord from all these "low capacity" CCW fellas.

Yes, I'm one of the clowns that owns several Colts, a Kimber and two Glock 19s... what do I usually carry? G19 w/ Winchester PDX 124gr ammo. "Why!?" you may ask. I like to have 15rds in the gun w/ 34rds on tap. Do I need to practice more? Am I overly paranoid to tote half a hundred rounds on me? Hmm... We all have our biases and preferences, w/ threat of multiple assailants, etc. I'm sure the agents taking on Mattix and Platt would have preferred my daily load out to what they had on them (and a Mini-14 doesn't holster well) :D Maybe I'll still get a LW Commander to diversify my collection :)

I carry a SIG Model 227 concealed comfortably in a Galco iwb "King Tuk" holster. Though this model can be had with a half inch or so shorter barrel (the "Carry" edition), I've come to understand that a slightly shorter barrel is really no more concealable than a slightly longer barrel is in the same pistol.

PT145 Mil Pro in a Crossbreed. Super reliable. I like that. The only I had to do was change the sights to a Wilson 3-dot.

NOT a Detonics Combat Master.

Jerry Ahern must have had belts made of gravity defying unobtanium. Never has such a small gun weighed so much.

Commander is a MUCH better option.
