Detroit must be getting desperate

This won't last long. After the first minority to get shot during a robbery, the two Reverands will descend on Detriot with a few thousand rent a mobs shouting #blacklivesmatter

Detroit Police Chief Craig has been advocating this for awhile. He also was the Cincinnati Police Chief and he did a fine job there too.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/08/2...nswer-police-chief-call-to-arms/?intcmp=hpbt4

"The chief's call to arms, which first came in December, 2013, has been answered by thousands of men and women tired of being victims and eager to reclaim their beleaguered city. In 2014, some new 1,169 handgun permits were issued, while 8,102 guns were registered with Detroit's police department - many to prior permit holders who bought new firearms. So for in 2015, nearly 500 permits have issued by the department and more than 5,000 guns have been registered."

This time it may have legs.

I was born and raised in Detroit (okay, Southfield, but close enough). I go back often to visit family and friends most of whom are died in the wool liberals. Shockingly, many of these same Wayne County and Oakland County liberals now carry a gun with them everywhere they go.

They're sick of crime and want to take back their communities.

I live just south of Detroit ( I can see the city limits from my front porch. ) and I rarely go outside my home without a gun on me.

I live west of Detroit and only go through it without a gun if going to Canada for the day. Not a great feeling.

Part of the problem has arisen as the Police and Fire departments are reduced via budget cuts. Of course, the political leadership always reduced police and fire/ems first. It's a way of punishing unruly citizens who think that taxes are supposed to provide basic services. Silly them.

I'd like to see this done in Camden NJ
It ought to be done everywhere, not just places where criminals have destroyed the possibility of a peaceful, normal way of life. It's great that someone is now advocating for this in that kind of area, but it's pitiful that things need to degrade so far before Americans are wising up and doing something about it.

It's like Paul Washer once said, "The problem with most of us is we're just like the Prodigal [Son]: we've got to be down eating pig slop before we realize that what we've done has totally ruined our life."

A different context, to be fair; but it applies just as well here.

I recently retired from community college teaching in Detroit. Before Michigan preempted CCW/CPL licencing, my students often expressed fear of living in their own neighbourhoods. Since getting CCW/CPLs became relatively easy, I have not heard such talk. Typically, in a class of 25, two or three women would be licensed — but rarely one of the men. I carefully did not ask whether that was a) because they did not have one, b) because they were just not telling me, or because they could not meet the requirements.

I always offered detailed informational handouts to those interested.

Disagree. When blacks kill other blacks, it is not an issue. There's no sensationalism (and advertising revenue) behind it, doesn't further the anti-2A agenda (except in statistical figures) so the Fourth Estate (media) doesn't care nor do those two self appointed champions of civil rights. If they cared, they'd start on the gang problems with rival black gangs killing each other. #alllivesmatter or #livesmatter should be what counts but it doesn't.

I agree completely. And their no nonsense CLEO has an excellent track record. This man can turn things around in Motown.

Here is hoping for the best for a once great city.

+1

America didn't become great by waiting for someone else to come along and fix our problems!
Might be the first small step towards restoring that greatness.

Exactly this.

Maybe with a hint of desperation because the Chief knows he doesn't have enough officers to deal with the amount of criminal activity in the first place. But the mentality that "the people are the first line of their own defense" is a welcome relief, and needs to be applied nationwide.
