Striker fired 'non commanded discharges' again in the news

I'm pretty sure most owner's manuals have the same warning. I remember first reading it when I bought a S&W M19

Colt Combat Commander in Satin Nickel

1911 magazines should be considered consumable items...much like brake pads. When they start malfunctioning, it is best to throw them away and get new ones

My Latest from Rock Island Auction--Colt All American 2000

Reading this immediately screamed Gun & Ammo...which was the Motor Trend of the Gun Rags

My Latest from Rock Island Auction--Colt All American 2000

I've shot a couple that belonged to friends...I thought the first one might have just been a bad example To say I was unimpressed would be an understatement

    Jacob Grey Black TWC

I believe Shell Shock 9mm cases aren't steel. They are two-piece cases with a nickel alloy body and an aluminum head

    Worst safety EVER!!!

I think four pages of this is enough. Time to put this thread to bed as we've moved well beyond the subject we were discussing

American made 1911 in 45 ACP: which one is the best bang for the buck

That is an interesting statement when you consider that the only reason that Browning (the designer, not the company) added the the thumb safety...the original only had a grip safety... to the original 1911 design was because the Army forced him to...to protect their horses. Even the commonly...

    Chronograph the garmin

I don't know how old "too old" is, but I'll be 72 this year and seriously considering getting my own. I've been lucky that a shooting buddy lets me use his. I don't think he's sold his Labradar yet, he just likes new toys...he still lives are home, owns his truck, and has a well paying job...

Redding Seater Die vs Redding Profile Crimp Die

Yes and no. A combination seater/crimp die offers the ability to be used as either function depending on what you are trying to accomplish. It also allows you to seat and crimp in one operation using the same die for both functions. What you are giving up, in place of using two dedicated dies...

    Worst safety EVER!!!

I've seen folks who do keep their finger off the trigger guard, but it has been almost exclusively in competitive Action Pistol competition and is solely for the benefit of the Safety Officer to be able to obviously see that your finger isn't on the trigger...to avoid being called for a penalty...

    Worst safety EVER!!!

I got mine when it was being sold by Heritage Arms and called the Stealth...that was before they added the finger grooves It is a really interesting South African design...being a delayed blow-back like the H&K P7...and the thumb safety on mine works fine. Another interesting South African...

    Worst safety EVER!!!

I almost forgot about that "feature"...racking the slide and having the safety switch on. It had be using the Slide Stop for a while until I switched to the "G" model de-cocker

    Hornady Click-Adjust Bullet Seating Micrometer

I don't usually go to these lengths for seating either...but it is something to be aware of when setting your powder measure

    Worst safety EVER!!!

That is definitely the worst safety of any pistol I've ever bought...small and stiff...pretty much unusable until you did some work on it

    Worst safety EVER!!!

I find it slightly amusing that you've listed the two slide mounted safeties that I consider polar opposites in usability....assuming you aren't referring to the Beretta 92, which had a frame mounted safety The 3rd Gen S&W safeties were low profile and stiff...very hard to flip off if you had...

    Well,..... NUTS......!

Interesting...I have looked at iejhaeds bullets site, but moved on when I didn't see offerings for .38Spl/.357Mag I know it hasn't been proven, but my feeling has been that the increased bearing surface of NLG bullets add a bit to longer distance accuracy. I may have to try out a case They...

    Trying to ID Pistol Grips

Since we've gone to 2 pages, and I knew I'd seen them before, I decided to Google it...and found them. They are for a S&W M39-2

Why the plastic on the 1911 Colt Commander?

A shooting buddy, when he decided to shoot IDPA CDP (Custom Defensive Pistol) Division with a 1911, chose a RIA one for the lower initial outlay. I ran fairly well for a couple of years before reliability issues started cropping up. He took it to the local "1911 guy", who usually built USPSA...

Why the plastic on the 1911 Colt Commander?

I don't have any issue with plastic triggers or MSH either. Mine usually get switched out because I don't like a skeletonized trigger and I usually add a magwell which is a single part with the MSH. I've long seen grip safeties which were casted parts, but I've never seen one made a plastic yet

1911 Assembly Without Tools: Plunger Tube Assembly?

The only "trick" to it is not to apply downward pressure. Folks want to do that because of the sloped surface...that isn't why that surface is sloped
