Well, like so much in the firearms industry (and life in general), it's much ado about very little.
I had one for a while, and it was the perfect size for carrying. However, the point of aim was so low I had to raise the front sight up so high it obliterated the target. Since I was never going to put an optic on it I ended up trading it off toward something else. In general, I do like Rugers...

Which is why I wouldn't buy a High Standard anything! I went through the H.S. phase some years ago and learned the hard way.

I had these on all my MK's before I switched over to the MKlV. Many poo poo it as being unnecessary, but it's very inexpensive fix and makes life just that much easier.

Perhaps so, but the PITA factor of the earlier models may negate this, as is evidenced by the popularity of the MKlV. Just saying.....
I've had several MKll's and enjoyed them all. However, I finally got tired of the disassembly/assembly process and went the 22/45 Lite route. However, since the 22/45 is out for you I'd just go with the MKlV "Target" and be done with it. I will say this...if you want it to be truly a good...
