What Are Your Favorite Loads Using Vihtavuori 3N37?

I used 5.4gr Vihtavuori 3N37 to push a Remington 147gr Golden Saber to 985 fps (measured with a chronograph) from my G19. I chose VV 3N37 for its extremely low muzzle flash properties. It meters well, shoots clean and produces consistent velocity.

    Beretta Tomcat..?

I wish Ruger would chamber its LCP II in .32 ACP. I carry a 10-shot LCP II .22 LR, loaded with Federal 29gr Punch, as a BUG when I carry a revolver. A 6-shot Ruger LCR .327 Magnum revolver, loaded with Federal 85gr JHP, is sweet to shoot. It has a decent double action only trigger. I carried...

    Ruger lcp

I have two LCP II .22 LR. One functioned well with Federal 29gr Punch. The other experienced intermittent failure to feed stoppages. I installed an M CARBO extra power recoil spring in the faulty one and now it functions well with Punch. Both have always functioned well with CCI Minimag 40gr...

    Handguns you cherish

My late father's 9mm Browning Hi Power, which he bought at at the PX on Camp Pendleton in the early 1970s, when the PX sold guns. He brought it home, proudly showed it to me and said, "Shhhh..., don't tell your mother!" I was honored back then that he trusted me that much to keep a secret.

Let’s End This Debate Once and For All Federal HST 9mm +P Versus Federal Punch 38Special +P

Here are a few calibrated 10% Type 250A ordnance gelatin tests I performed years ago. (I'm going to do identical tests however I'll include more data and present the results a little differently.) See - https://web.archive.org/web/20110202171300/http://firearmstactical.com/briefs.htm

Let’s End This Debate Once and For All Federal HST 9mm +P Versus Federal Punch 38Special +P

Four layers of heavy denim cloth has never been intended to simulate any type of clothing combination. It's an engineering evaluation tool to test the ability of a JHP bullet to resist clogging and expand robustly. It's a challenging, yet reasonable soft barrier material that was developed...

Let’s End This Debate Once and For All Federal HST 9mm +P Versus Federal Punch 38Special +P

I have experience with preparing, handling, and testing with Type 250A ordnance gelatin. There's a learning curve, but it isn't difficult. Given the amount of faulty terminal performance tests being performed by uninformed YouTube bullet testers, I'm preparing to perform tests of defensive...

    40 S&W through a 45acp

I hosted three South Korean friends to shoot various pistols of mine. I had 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP. One of them managed to load and shoot a .40 S&W in my S&W 4506 .45 ACP. I discovered the error when I was policing up brass. The case mouth had expanded like it had been "belled" way to...

Let’s End This Debate Once and For All Federal HST 9mm +P Versus Federal Punch 38Special +P

I suggest not relying on terminal performance tests performed with Clear Ballistics Gel (CBG) for selecting defense ammunition. CBG is not a realistic soft tissue simulant. Even if CBG calibrates to FBI standard (BB penetration of 8.5cm +/- 9mm at 590 fps), bullets behave differently in CBG...

    Dot failed mid-qualifying. :(

Murphy's Law - "Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong, at the worst possible moment." Replace your battery at least once per year, just like with smoke detectors. Remove all doubt. Pay no heed to what the optic manufacturer claims about battery life.

Suggestions Wanted: Small, All-metal, 9mm, SA (Without taking out a mortgage)

That was going to be my suggestion. The M43 Firestar was arguably the first "micro nine". Being all steel, it wasn't nicknamed "the brick" for nothing. I carried one for several years.

    S&W GOVERNOR OR TAURUS JUDGE?

Like many other cartridges, .410 has been tweaked to meet modern terminal performance specifications. Federal offers a superb .410 load for self-defense that's loaded with 4 or 5 000 (.36 caliber) buck pellets, all of which penetrate a minimum of 12" from .410 revolvers.

advice? shopping for subsonic suppressed SBR

Hornady .300 BLK 111gr Monoflex TAP SBR is designed for 7 - 11.5" barrels, and is barrier blind. Subsonic .300 BLK is no better than a pistol bullet. If I wanted a subsonic, suppressed SBR, then I'd consider .40 S&W 180gr.

When you decide to get physical you're opening Pandora's box

Indeed! Usually, the other person simply wants to be "right". In his Shivworks "Managing Unknown Contacts" course, Craig Douglas suggests calmly accepting blame, apologizing, telling the other person they're "right", and then adding a short story to elicit some sympathy from the other...

    Poor Reporting from USCCA

Thanks, but "old case law" doesn't help. Got a citation? I haven't found ANY references or citations myself, and no informed Washington state gun/self-defense law attorney has ever mentioned it. We do have "stand your ground" in WA state because, according to criminal case law, the RCW...
