    Buying Flashlights At the Airports

I can recommend the Klarus XT11 as a relatively (compared to surefire) inexpensive tactical flashlight. It's around $100, made of aluminum. Puts out 600 lumen. I and a bunch of co-workers have used them on duty for a bit over a year now. If anyone can break stuff it's cops. ;)

Mounting a scope on Rem 700... get bases or mount directly?

I've always used bases. One advantage to the bases are if you need a compensated base such as for long distance shooting one can buy a 20moa base. I prefer two piece bases for ease of loading/unloading.

    Barsca scopes

I have a 4-16x40AO on a 223. It works but is not good by any means, though I have been accused of being a glass snob. If I had to do it over again I'd have bought better. As always YMMV, and my sample size is 1.

Just bought a new gun safe, still new advice.

That Winchester is not a bad safe. My cousin bought same one from Tractor Supply about a year ago. I like the door panel and external hinges. I don't know about yours but the door to frame fit on my cousin's wasn't that tight and there are no door adjusters on his. As far as your buddy the...

    spotting scope for 300 yards

Depends on what a reasonable cost is to you. Before I could afford my Swaro I bought a used Pentax PF80ED for $600. Those are VERY good scopes, 300yds was no problem. In the arena of good glass you have to pay to play. The Pentax is a best bang for buck scope and most versatile as it will...

Safe Selection - Size & Weight Factors

If a concrete home slab can't handle 3500lbs I hope no one tells my houses slab that! I've had a 5400lbs rascal in mine for over a yr. :uhoh:

    Advice on a gun safe

I'd get the biggest and best you can afford. You'll be surprised how quick they fill and it's not an item that usually wears out so you'll most likely have it a while.

    Junk guns are fun too!

At one time I was skeptical but now after owning one and shooting it I wouldn't. It's my ATV gun, just throw it in the ATV and not worry about it when riding. Nothing wrong with a $3K AR either :D

If you only had 1 handgun

In your price range with maximum versatility a 4" .357mag. Can shoot full house 357 or 38. I'd go for the Ruger GP100, got one and love it.
