Just wanted to add one more thing- back in the day, people were more willing to put up with something that might have been off. I recall reading an article by the late John Taffin where he had a Colt SAA ( think it was 45) where one of the bolt notches was cut too deep and the chamber was weaker...
I have an excellent condition Ruger Blackhawk old model 357- with chatter marks down the entire length of the bore. I think most companies kicked out rough stuff back in the day as they do now- we just hear more of it now due to reasons mentioned above.
I have read that one can remove the lock and replace the lock with a bearcat hammer strut seat. Had a couple of Rugers with the lock- shot the same as any other Blackhawk. The only trouble with the lock models is finding grips that have the cut out for the lock.
Speaking of Dan Wesson's- there's an absolute mint 375 supermag here that I keep thinking of grabbing. Only thing holding me back is the cost of brass....
If I had the money, I'd look very hard at that DW. I have never seen one in 45 colt. Had a 357 with a pork chop barrel many moons ago and it was a very nice shooting gun.
The BFR would have my interest too., especially if it had their bizana grip frame.
Ruger's Bisley grip is too small for my hands (xxl glove)- a bit cramped. I've held, but not shot a BFR with their version of a bisley grip and it felt great.
