In my estimation you're going to have to agree to disagree with "Guy #1". You're not going to convince him of anything because he's obviously already made up his mind and won't want to be confused with facts. IMO, you could probably try and have a civilized discussion about your differing...
[You can] ... blacken stainless steel through the use of oxidizing type blacking compounds. The process produces black coatings on stainless steel and alloy steels by a "conversion" process. The chrome in the stainless steel is involved in a chemical reaction with the oxidizers in the solution...

Down just a little from the top of the page is a table with the dimensions of the target-rings for all the targets used in Conventional Pistol matches including the B6 and B8 you're asking about.
Go nuts.
There are a ton of really great guns out there that I simply don't like. I don't own them for that reason. If it doesn't make my heart skip a beat I wait and buy something else that DOES. Life is too short for guns I have to be "convinced" I like.
Personally, I think the Weigand mount is the best looking. I used one for a long time and I think you wind up with a smoother looking rig using this mount. The rear sight has to be removed and the mount utilizes the dovetail. It also puts your red dot farther to the rear and the weight more...
.
I have seen plenty polymer-framed pistols used in both IDPA and IPSC matches.
I have never seen a polymer-framed pistol used in a Conventional Pistol (aka "Bullseye") match.
Now, IAMNAG, but I have always assumed there must be a reason why this is so.
My thought's are polymer has its...
A proper trigger job is essential on the MKII/III's, in my opinion. Once all the creep and over-travel (especially the latter) is removed, and you get the pull down to around two or three pounds, you'll be shocked at how much better you can shoot it.
My project Ruger MKII:
Typical target...
I had a DAK conversion done on my 229 and I loved everything about it.
I also want to chime in on using a Wolff 17# main spring as mentioned previously. Making that one spring change will make a world of difference in the trigger pull. Really. It's something you just have to experience to...
I clean them after every shooting session because I don't see any reason not to. They also represent significant financial investment, and could potentially be called upon at any time to save my bacon.
I'm also quite convinced that should I ever find myself "entertaining" unexpected...
Okay, so I am understanding you correctly then: Three shots fired. NOT four. All three shots felt normal to you (recoil) all three went "boom" and three plates fell over. Since three shots were fired and three plates fell, and since shooting stopped after this third shot (since the case from...
Hmmm... I'm unclear on how many shots were fired. OP makes it sound (to me anyway) that all shooting stopped after round three, since the empty did not extract/eject. This would ruin your theory about round four clearing the squib-load barrel-blockage and bring us back to square one.
Or I...
Okay, so I'm not crazy then and the Mobil 1 ATF really does smell that bad? Good to know I'm not being over-sensitive... I can handle the usual motor oil smell, kinda like it actually, but that Mobil 1 ATF was positively unbearable!!!
Thanks for the quick reply.
Oddball Question RE: Mobil 1 Motor Oil...
Does Mobil 1 motor oil stink?
Most likely I'd be using 10W40, if it matters, but I ask this in all seriousness because someone loaned me some Mobil 1 ATF for purposes of handgun lubrication and words can not even begin express how badly it reeked. It...
+1 for Robar. They NP3'd my last 1911 and it turned out beautifully. If only NP3 came in colors!!!
The whole shipping-my-guns thing makes me more nervous than shipping them to Robar. By FAR.
My guess is that JTQ pretty much nailed it. You're looking at semi-custom at least and most likely the blank slide and consecutive serial numbers will push you into "full-custom" territory with the associated price range as again JTQ so succinctly points out. Les Baer and Nighthawk, methinks...
My local range separates rifles on one side of the range, pistols on the other (there's a solid wall/door separating the two). Only problem for me is that the pistol side maxes out at 15 yards, while the rifle side goes out to 25 yards.
Ah well.
If I get parked next to guy sighting in...
