Ammo Spec Discrepancy on Hornady's Website

I agree. The literature should reflect the BTSP not just SP. Now you know. Now we all know.

Ammo Spec Discrepancy on Hornady's Website

I am guessing it is not an error but the ammo is loaded with soft point, flat base. Not the BTSP. Pull one and end the suspense. For shots to 400 yards and in, any conventional bullet will work fine. Not really sure I would go through the process of dialing for a shot at that range or less...

    Short barreled bolt guns

For short barrel and lower recoil/blast, if you are hunting, I would suggest the .350 Legend over a Blackout for deer sized game.

Ammo Spec Discrepancy on Hornady's Website

In looking at the Hornady website, where they specify in the ammo, it will say BTSP as opposed to SP, for example in the .25-06 it specifically says BTSP as opposed to Interlock SP. Which would lead me to believe that the loaded ammo that you are looking at is the 165 gr. SP with the flat base...

    .270win vs .308win for deer

For me it would be about the rifle fit and what the expected terrain/hunting experience would be. Longer shots, more open, I might lean towards the .270. My .270 wears a 22 inch barrel and my .308 just a 18 inch, so a bit more handy for a ground blind or tree stand.

    22 Creedmoor for deer hunting?

I would agree that if a person chooses to use a small bullet like a .22 on big game (deer and larger), a stout bullet would be my choice. Like a Barnes TTSX, Partition etc. Again, just my preference.

Anyone use a .223 or 5.56 77 gr OTM on whitetail?

Can a .22 match bullet kill deer? Sure. Is it the best choice for whatever situation you may find yourself in? In my mind, no. I suppose it depends on what type of hunting you are doing, culling does that are damaging crop where you can wait for the perfect broadside shot, sure. Taking a...

    35 Whelen vs 338-06

Many times the 225 grain Sierra is available, just bought a couple of boxes about 2 months ago. Also have bought 225 grain Nosler Partitions in the past but have not looked for any lately. Speer makes a 250 grain softpoint that I see available fairly often as well.

    Chronograph the garmin

I bought one about a year ago. I love it, I use it every time I go to the range because, why not? It is so simple to set up

    Beam or Electronic scale

I went from a beam to an electronic to an electronic powder dispenser/scale combo. No way would I ever go back to hand trickling and weighing again.

200yds Standing off of sticks.. just sucks.

Depends on where you are at but most of the places that I have hunted in Africa, the grass would be an issue as it would be too tall to easily shoot sitting

200yds Standing off of sticks.. just sucks.

Been to Africa for plains game twice. My experience has been that when you are tracking, the shooting sticks get placed and you step right up and take the shot, usually with some degree of urgency. I have used a rifle locked into a tripod mount, and at least for me, it would not be quick...

100 years of the .270 Winchester

Just thinking about one of my Rem 700s in .270 Winchester today. Received a new suppressor yesterday and was thinking maybe cutting the 22 inch barrel down to 19 inches and threading it for suppressor use might be a great use of that rifle.
