• Possible Downtime Alert

I am working to migrate THR from the current cluster to a new one. I would like to get this done before the weekend, but it's unclear what the timeframe will be, as testing is still ongoing. As I am writing this the new (rebuilt) host is doing a burn-in to ensure that everything will keep running under load.

When the migration happens users will see a Cloudflare message indicatating it cannot connect to the server. This is expected, and depending on how the migration goes this may last from 30 minutes to 3 hours - I won't know more until testing the various migration options is complete and I have finalized the plan.

More information is available in this thread.

As always, thanks so much for your patience.

    Ruger's New .45LC/.45ACP Redhawk...

I totally agree with that, I purely hate unloading the old style clips. My beef is really that there has been nothing in the marketing (and I include Youtube stalwarts like Gunblast in said marketing) that explicitly mentions this. Yes, semiautos all have different mags, but we've expected this...

    Ruger's New .45LC/.45ACP Redhawk...

Requires proprietary clips. Boo! I just picked up one of these new Redhawks at Palmetto State Armory today. It didn't come with any moon clips (supposed to come with three), but I wasn't really concerned; I have dozens of Ranch Products clips for my Colt 1917, so I figured they would work. A...

    Tacticliffe...

I think it's more of a saxe (or seaxe).

What is your Smith & Wesson dream gun that they never made?

I was thinking 14 .25 ACP's in moonclips. Like ring caps for grownups. With a rail for a flashlight, I could use it to hunt palmetto bugs in the yard at night.

    Ruger Recall of SR9 Pistols

Still some older ones out there. I had paid little attention to the recall since I did not own an SR9. I had read that the problem was fixed, so when I saw one NIB at a pawnshop here on sale yesterday, I impulse bought it. THEN I did some more reading, and realized it was in the early...

    Anyone carry FMJ's

I know this would not apply to anyone here, but in the event of a missed shot does the FMJ not tend to ricochet a bit more/further?

What's Going On With The Ruger LCR?

Remember when there were waiting lists for PT Cruisers at the Chrysler dealerships and people were paying thousands over retail to be one of the first? I wonder what they think of that now. I just don't get spending a premium for what is destined to be a mass market, popular gun.

    Python

Python, the new Luger... Pythons were always premium revolvers, and therefore more expensive than duty grade guns like Troopers and Model 19s. But now, they are seen as infused with so much Excellence that they must not see the light of day ever again. After the last 7 guys that still don't...

442 vs. 642? What are the differences?

I'm in the market for a 442, so I'm not complaining, but how is that black finish considered "blued"? It seems more like a coating than a metal treatment. I wish they weren't so popular, the demand has them up over $500 around here.

Great deal on an old revolver w/slight rust problem

Remember... If you refinish it, it will lose 50% of it's collector's value.

    Old Heirloom Colts

I would wear the bluing off just pulling them out and looking at them all the time.:)

    Ruger LCR

As long as it isn't like the launch of the XGI rifle.

    Ruger LCR Polymer Revolver

I'm interested, but the $ seems off. Ruger makes good, rugged guns that are priced attractively. I am in the market for a Smith 442 and have resisted buying so far. This is due to an apparent $100 dollar jump in the last year at retail. I just have a hard time shelling out $500 for a $375-$425...

Let's talk about CCW classes(your horror stories and opinions)

Charleston SC class- couple of weeks ago. I took my class at a large shop/range north of town. Local gunnies, you know where it is. I had to wait about 4-5 weeks after I signed up to get in one, they have been booked up since you-know-who ascended. Our class was full, 35 all told. We arrived...

Is the gun rush slowing down?

Panic still going strong at Charleston SC gunshow... Went to my first gun show since moving here. The line was over 100 yards long @9:30, show had been open for half an hour. Early birds were coming out with ammo cans in both hands. It wasn't too hard to move around at first, but it got clogged...

    Lockstep Newsmuffins

Wow. It IS a good name for a band. Just seemed to fit some of the conformist airheads on TV and often in print. If a band named Lockstep Newsmuffins ever sells out Wembley Stadium, I wanna get paid.

    Lockstep Newsmuffins

Does over-use of the phrase "opened fire" in the reportage of shooting incidents grate on anybody else's nerves? When a robbery gets messy, the perp is said to have "opened fire" , never "started shooting". The backyard vigilante? "Opened fire". The cops in response to a suspicious movement...

    AR-25?

Also interested in the .45. I can find no real news about it. I had assumed that it would at least be in the gun press by now for "first look" type articles. Armalite's website is amazingly WEAK. A few so-so pix of the 9mm pistols that have been out for months, and no mention of the .45. It...
