Have 22LR and 17HMR—Does 22 Mag bring anything to the table?

My Marlin shoots those OKish, at least well enough to burn the rest of what I have. My Ruger doesn't like them much, both guns shoot the 33gr Remington accu tips much better. With the Remington ammo the Ruger is on par with Dad's 17 HMR Savage accuracy wise.

Have 22LR and 17HMR—Does 22 Mag bring anything to the table?

I have been using 22 Mag since we'll before the 17 was a thing, dad bought a 17 when it came out. I've shot both a bit for accuracy and have hunted side by side. I don't really see a need for both unless having both is the need lol.

    300 BO chamber ?

Whether it's the detonation folks claim or as I suspect a full power round following a squib. The enemy is air space. I really don't see this being an issue here as there's just not a lot of air space to start with. The bigger problem using H110/WW296 for 300 BO subs is it borders on too fast of...

What is the nicest gun you were ever given as a gift?

I've inherited quite a few nice guns, probably the nicest is a Browning Superposed that was NIB and I talked mom into buying it for my dad, he passed it to me a couple years ago when he started having trouble shooting. Also have inherited a nice 1917 Smith Army, 1903 Colt 32, Colt Huntsman...

    300 BO chamber ?

I would say then you definitely have a short throat. Seating deeper is the easy work around. Typically seating deeper will raise pressure and velocity. With regard to 300 blackout subsonic you're probably ( this advice is worth what you paid😉) not going to raise pressure to a dangerous level as...

    Beretta 21 Bobcat 22LR opinions?

Also if you limit the 32 to the recommended 130 ft lb ammunition and then you subtract the velocity loss because the 130 ft lb recommendation is factory ratings and factory rating is a 4" barrel. You don't have anywhere near enough oomph to have any expansion. You're basically then at a .312...

    Pinned Barrels, yes or no

I've owned Smith's that range from an USGI 1917 to recent production MIM/Lock guns. I also lucked into being able to go thru a collector's stash of NIB guns that ranged from the 40s and newer. The thing that stood out about many of those early guns is that the lowly budget guns (several 10s and...

    The 6mm Max Cartridge......

Most of the hunting bullets aren't real jump sensitive, so as long as the twist is fast enough most of those will be GTG in either 243 or 6 CM. I had built a fast twist 243 AR and it worked good with the 107 SMKs which aren't real jump sensitive. I basically went off the advice of a nationally...

    The 6mm Max Cartridge......

I think you'll be more likely to get it in 6mm Creed, but IMHO there's so little difference below 100gr it's really close.

    Pinned Barrels, yes or no

This X1000 To me it represents a finite point when it stopped being about building the best gun regardless of cost and became about cost cutting to maximize profit.

Suppressor should not cost this much!

I get that and my first point was to show that your hypothesis was factually incorrect. My second was to point out the reality that indeed even if the cost margin was small in many cases maximum suppression at additional cost may not appeal to everyone. CASE IN POINT There are an awfully lot of...

Suppressor should not cost this much!

I really have no idea what the cost would be to machine that. @MachIVshooter has already weighed in on what the machines themselves run I seriously doubt anyone will set them up and fun them for minimum wage. I know what machine operators make in the aircraft world. But would seem that given...

Suppressor should not cost this much!

I'm not sure that's entirely true first even if they were removed from the NFA you're just not gonna get a suppressor as cheap as a flash can. Second I've been within earshot (pun intended) of a couple cheap solvent trap suppressors and on a semi auto the port pop is bad enough that you're gonna...

Decide, les baer, wilson combat, ?

My one and only high end 1911 is a Les Baer. People in the know will look at my avatar and screen name and understand why I have a fondness for Les. Their blue may not be the best but their fit is amazing and shooting is definitely hot rod worthy.

Suppressor should not cost this much!

Some people have to pee on the electric fence themselves😱 It really takes a pretty dramatic difference in Db for the human ear to pick up, many times it's a difference in tone that is more noticeable. I've got 4 different rimfire cans and have heard another 1/2 dozen in person, ammo and host...

Suppressor should not cost this much!

Nothing is free you got a $600 45 ACP can and paid $350 for a 22 can. The Silencer Central Banish cans really aren't anything special for similar money you could have got a Rugged Obsidian 45 that's rated for rifle calibers and plenty of good rimfire cans for 300ish In order to do that SC...

    The 6mm Max Cartridge......

It's like deja vu all over again. Seems like we've been down this road before where one 6mm cartridge shoots all the available bullets and another that shoots the lighter of them a little faster but can't do the heavy ones. Of course there will always be guys that'll chase 25 fps. Different...

    The 6mm Max Cartridge......

Yes and the designer was stuck on the "all bullets loaded to the same length" like that's the greatest thing ever. Only issue is it doesn't really work IRL. The 6mm Max misses the mark just a bit, by not really working with the high BC 100+ gr bullets.

    Older Than Me

LOL well since I stated in my post that I was born in December of 65 you wouldn't thunk the math is that hard. I'm 57 so yes the ones that are over 100 are older than me also another dozen that are over 57. So 8+12=20 total guns older than me for those youngsters that have been subjected to new...
