If I want to work on my shooting and get some serious practice , I like going by my self, but nothing beats the comraderie(sp?) offered by like minded individuals getting together for a good time.
Handguns:
Semi-Auto ::Glock 17 and S&W 4506 (if I can find one)
Revolver:: Ruger Redhawk .44 Mag and a Colt Python .357 Mag (if I can find one)
Long Guns: Ruger Mini 14 .223 and Remington 870 12ga
Is the DPMS Panther CMP .22 LR legal in the state of California? I just read the review in the Dec '04 issue of American Rifleman. It would be a nice gun to have.
The Benchamade Mini-Griptilian with the modified clip point blade is a good knife to get for all around use. I have mine in yellow so as to not look "menacing". If you prefer a more traditiona design, how about a Buck 110 or Uncle Henry of the same design.
I use my Glock 21 the most since it is my main sidearm. Running a close second is my Ruger MK II with the 5 1/2" bull barrel...very accurate and cheap to feed
