    Home defense scenario

I believe there was a suggestion that a topic started in general handguns be moved to legal because discussion of the castle doctrine had arisen. Those discussions were not relevant to the OP there, so that thread was discontinued. This thread was then started with a hypothetical that resembled...

Handguns vs shotguns for (home) self-defense

The OP asks whether people prefer a handgun or shotgun for home defense. It does not ask about rifles, PDWs or crew served weapons. It does not ask about strategy, philosophy or restatements of the law. If folks want to answer the OP with their choice of the two options, there may be some...

    The Guardsman From Flat Rock

That is beautiful in a classically understated way. The handle contours invite one to pick it up, and I hope one day to do so!

Looks like Paul Harrell is coming to the end of his road...

Another unique and wise one gone. He enriched a number of lives, however, so left a fine legacy.

    Interesting gun shop robberies

When it is more important to make your point than to be on point, we've passed the point of no return.

    Interesting gun shop robberies

Now you have me flashing back to "The Prisoner", but corrections theory and practice are not really what we do here. If you have information on other smash and grab gun shop heists, that might relate to the OP. Otherwise, this thread may be due for retirement.

    Walmart Axis Lock

What this country needs is a good 5 cent cigar! Remember those boxes of White Owl and other rotgut cigars that once adorned the counters of truck stops and restaurants across the country? Do you miss them? One of the reasons the knives with no name are hard to find is that they were sent to...

    X-Treme tax charge

Y'all can blame South Dakota for sales tax collection. Wikipedia explains https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Dakota_v._Wayfair%2C_Inc. When stuff you buy off the internet is all 6.5% or more less than all your in-state sources, the state revenues shrivel up like a polar plunger's wedding...

Kansas court dismissed a machine gun charge

Do you believe that all such weapons were registered, then or now?

    Another wacky California knife case

Here's the 17 page opinion: https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.casd.754628/gov.uscourts.casd.754628.50.0.pdf Mark Smith's take: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rWsDr_R7Us Ignorance should hurt. Unfortunately some article III courts take pride in it.

Kansas court dismissed a machine gun charge

It helps when the OP cites the full opinion at an official source. https://ecf.ksd.uscourts.gov/cgi-bin/show_public_doc?2023cr10047-35 It also helps if folks read the full opinion before commenting. It's only 10 pages. Although it is human nature to speculate on where this leads, the...

What are your favorite large size .380s?

Interesting that no one has mentioned the Walther PD380. This seems to have been designed for smaller shooters. Link to a Sootch video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=em22RrszE88&t=127s Hammer DA/SA, not a blowback, slim grip.

Pineing away for an interesting handle?

Cool pattern, but more epoxy than pine cone, therefore probably heavier than need be.

    Holy Marlin Model 60s

Many guns seem to be canonized by going out of production. I shot a model 60 enough to have to rebuild it with new buffer and firing pin, but never really bonded with the gun. A good solid piece of American gun history, but the most attractive part to me was the walnut stock.

    Alliant powder alternatives

I have edited the thread title to more accurately reflect Alliant availability status. This information is 6 months old, but I find nothing newer: https://www.ammoland.com/2024/05/alliant-powders-suspended-shipments-of-smokeless-powders-for-reloading/

    The “just cuz” cartridge…

Mine is 45-70. Uneconomical, ungainly, and unnecessary since the bison became scarce. Still a ton of fun from a lever gun (Marlin 1895).

Anyone remember the Montana man who was displaying a firearm near a school? Montana law did not exempt him from federal law.

The defendant attracted attention by patrolling his property while carrying a shotgun and uttering threats, if I recall correctly. This was not a simple going-about-my-business setting. The guy was behaving erratically and people were worried about the safety of others in the vicinity. Another...

My First Firearm Review & Disassembly Video - Seeking Your Honest Feedback

We do have rules, and there are good reasons for them. Directing traffic to poster's video channels as a primary objective is a misuse of the resource, and consequently the thread will be locked. Further such exploits would be ill-advised.
