US Man Cloned Marco Polo Sheep- Gets Charged

Well said. God forbid the Government stop actual threats, drugs, or gang bangers. At least we have the sheep invasion controlled.

US Man Cloned Marco Polo Sheep- Gets Charged

I find it shocking that Texas would be a permissible environment for exotic species and genetic manipulation ;)

    Geissele 16” AR mini review

The Kahles is great and has very convenient holdovers out to 500 for my 77 grain loads. Great eye box on all magnifications and very forgiving/fast on 1X. The illumination isn’t super bright but it’s not really necessary with how the reticle is designed.

    Geissele 16” AR mini review

Picked up a lightly used Super Duty. After taking off the Holosun it came with, I slapped on some Troy irons and my Kahles 1-6X and switched out the furniture to BCM. Once a good zero with the irons was established, the Kahles got slapped on via QD mounts. Some 5 round groups while zeroing at...

The end of the J-frame era

When I carry mine it’s for convenience, lightweight, concealment, power, and (when used as a BUG while on patrol) increased reliability at contact distance.

The end of the J-frame era

This guy has replaced my M&P 340 for j-frame carry duty since I about shot the M&P loose with too many full power loads. Usually as a BUG on duty or as a lightweight pocket carry with magnum loads for long hikes or archery elk. Yes, my LCP is easier to carry but this is the better option...

    AR 15 Question

Sounds like an interesting life! Don’t worry about what you have unless obvious issues occur, especially since Bushmaster and Ruger make good stuff. Rather, go train with what you have! Classes can be great but if you’re short on time, lots of online resources and targets out there.

2-7x or 1-6x Scope for General Purpose AR

A LPVO is a great compromise for a “general purpose” AR. They can be ran about as fast as a dot while providing greater field of vision than a 2-7X at close range and still have more than enough magnification for distance and target ID.

Anyone know of a good way to communicate from the woods to home while hunting?

Work recently bought our rural team the Garmin InReach. Not sure what the cost is but it seems to work very well and more reliable (and a lot less heavy) than the satellite phones.

Tag Soup (Again) - Colorado Elk

Having lived in Colorado for 20 years I can confirm some of that. WAY too much pressure on most hunting units. I hunt public land and know where to go but my (and other people I know) success rate is low. Not only that, but the elk rarely talk during the rut due to pressure. CO is a profit...

Your Favorite Bolt Action Hunting Rifle…

I voted Sako. My A7 stainless 30-06 checked off a bunch of boxes when I got her a decade ago, not the least of which was the balance and how the stock fit. Nearly a dozen meat harvests later (mule deer, elk, and pronghorn), it’s my absolute go to rifle. I did upgrade glass to a lightweight...

Your Favorite Bolt Action Hunting Rifle…

Good lord what a beautiful rifle that checks most all the boxes for an elk/deer/speed goat hunting! How much do you want for her? Edit: Varget with 180 grain slugs???

Recommend an AR for a short person....

Something with a slim m-lock rail. Pistol grips can easily be changed out for whatever fits your hand. Something like this weighs under 6#: https://danieldefense.com/ddm4-v7slw.html

    .32 for SD?

Well, a .32 H&R is better than nothing but obviously sub par. I remember you (Kleanbore) posting about using an iPhone as an impact weapon (hypothetically of course as it wouldn’t work in a real world environment). The .32 should be a better choice for you in non permissive environments.

Fwd. asst. mod for ambi charging handles

Looks good OP! The forward assist is useful for me after doing a press check to make sure a round chambered. Pressing the forward assist closes the bolt and puts the gun back into battery without a lot of noise. Not a high speed guy at all, just a cop with a touch of OCD that flairs up in...

Two cartridges that I love that everyone else hates.

Yes, The Night Rider still has the biggest ding-ding as portrayed above… As the omnipresent JMR40 opined, “Some people just feel more comfortable with something 45 caliber.” Well yes, a hollow point that reliably opens to .75” (3/4”!) is very much a comforting thing to pack. Nothing wrong...

Why are people making 18"+ 350 Legend guns/barrels?

Added barrel length does further reduce muzzle blast. Although I try and avoid longish shots on game, I have come to appreciate a 24” 30-06 due to that reason.

    Ruger #1 30-06 Max Loads

Probably not a good idea. If you want book loads that are significantly faster than factory but safe, look hard into Reloader 22 behind 180-220 grain bullets. I’m getting 2,875 with 60.5 grains and a 180 grain bullet (under listed max and no pressure signs). Beautiful rifle by the way.
