FYSA-SCOTUS hears oral arguments on ATF rule change on "ghost guns"

There is a big difference between removing an existing serial number and having a gun which never had a serial number. Many guns made before 1968 had no serial number, as they were not required until then. Removal or obliteration is a crime, and I believe a serial number is necessary before a...

One gun to do it all.

My theory has always favored a 12 ga falling block with sub-caliber inserts for everything from 22 LR to 460 Lott. Essentially a tube gun set up for AR pattern grips and stocks. Possibilities!

= It's Final = Vista Outdoor ammunition companies sold to Czechoslovak Group

While I could wish that ownership remained in the US, the Czechs have a long and successful history with arms and materiel design and production. This should be a much better outcome than a venture capital acquisition.

    Non-firearm "plinking" fun?

The nice thing about archery is that you can get some good exercise retrieving your arrows. I could be tempted with an inexpensive crossbow that was fun to shoot, but I haven't found one just yet. Other options could include slingshots, BB guns, pellet guns, airsoft, throwing knives and...

    Punisher grips

OP, as noted previously the only legal issue with the grips bearing the "Punisher" design was a claimed violation of an agreement and/or order not to show them (usually a result of the court finding or likely to find that the prejudicial effect of showing them was likely to outweigh the...

Gun Safe Vs Gun Cabinet/Locker: Is there really a difference when portable angle grinders exist?

Nothing is as secure or "safe" as we like to think. Although yeggs and powdermen aren't as common as they once were, bank safes were no match for them in their day. I would be interested in hearing from members whose safe or RSC foiled a burglary attempt. Those folks would have good information...

City of Okeechobee, FL violated State Preemption FS 790.33.

I agree that the legal system is an inefficient tool, best used to convince people to be reasonable. If whoever decided to make that announcement is admitting to error, no amount of punitive damages or collateral damage will accomplish much more. Education is what is needed, and it seems like...

    plinking and alcohol consumption

Ethanol and humans is a complex subject that our species has wrestled with for thousands of years. We are not about to solve the mystery here. Many appear to operate reasonably well with a background level of ETOH in their systems, while it destroys the lives of others. There are social and...

Canada Spent $67 Million On Mandatory Gun Buy Backs - Not One Gun Collected

In Canada as with the lower 48, I suspect that the city folk have the country folk outnumbered and outvoted. They have fewer checks and balances, however, so things work on a different scale and pace. Please don't blame the victims.

    plinking and alcohol consumption

We like to promote best practices here, but we try not to tell others how to run their lives. Any mood-altering substance, whether legal or otherwise, interferes with the judgment required to use firearms, heavy equipment, kitchen knives and vehicles safely. Please keep in mind that the...

What do you think is "enough" for mags and how do you store them?

After watching this discussion, I picked up another mag for my old Tikka T3. When they first came out, they cost $70 (Beretta had just acquired Sako, which had acquired Tikka). I was reluctant to pay that much for a small bit of plastic, and so apparently were most others. Today I paid $26...

What do you think is "enough" for mags and how do you store them?

My standard stock is 2 mags for hunting guns, 5 for handguns and 20 for long guns. Challenges are Beretta 70 series, SIG trailside and CZ 22 rifles. Overstock may occur when good deals are encountered. Stored in pistol bags or web gear.

The evolution of the .22lr - the 21 Sharps.

While the article cited does support my first premise, the "science" is massaged a bit to make the leap to bullets. A statement that a 150 grain bullet can kill 10 eagles would have to be premised on ten equal fragments and that each eagle metabolizes each fragment completely. We both know that...

The evolution of the .22lr - the 21 Sharps.

Threats from lead bullets are far different than threats from shot pellets that are readily ingested by dabbling ducks, raptors and scavengers. The bullet ban is far more politics than science based.

Less than 60 days to a major election and no panic buying. I'm Surprised!

When I was young I bought guns that I could afford, enjoyed them, but our culture is set up to ensure that we are never satisfied with what we have. Those guns are gone, but I don't use the the replacements, which are generally better guns, as often or as skillfully as I used the earlier ones...

    New gun itch

Somebody out there has an itch of their own for the guns that just sit in your safe. Turn the ones you don't use into the new hotness and ride the rollercoaster for awhile. No, they won't pay what you want for them but yes, they will often pay more than you did to acquire. Then of course...

The evolution of the .22lr - the 21 Sharps.

I don't believe the 22 mag uses a heeled bullet. They could have simply inserted mono bullets into 22 wmr cases. Could even produce different power/velocity levels as is done with 22 rimfire. One of the big factors in the popularity of 22 rimfire is the economy of the round. This type of change...
