    Chinese Non-toxic shot

Ok Guys...call me carzy BUT Several months back I was perusing Handloader Mag at the local book emporium. In it was an article about a new super shot being imported from China. Heavier than lead. Safe in older guns. Ballistically magic as far as retained energy, energy transfer on target etc...

    Dan'l Fraser .22

Happy Friday one and all ! LOL I just picked up a Daniel Fraser falling block 22LR. I'm looking for some confirmation. I know it was mfgd. by Armi San Marco. IIRC it was imported by Thad Scott in the late 70s or so. Has a nicely casehardened receiver, barrel tapering from octagon to round...

need help with a winchester model 12 20 ga...

Kurt, I'm not a Model 12 expert just really like 'em. The gun you have is a 1912 I do believe. Serial # would obviously help dating it. If it is tight mechanically and has a 2 3/4 chamber, it's easily worth$250.00. Don't know how much you put into it time wise on the refinish but Model 12's...

    DedNutz rings

I'll chime in on the Dednutz mounts. I have one on a Remington 600. Looks and works great. Just my NHO. I think you'll like 'em. Plus if weight is a consideration, they'll save a couple of ounces, perhaps more.

    Peabody Comeback

Anybody heard about the resurrection of the Peabody Single Shot? Being made in Wisconson by the Providence Tool Co. and available this May(supposedly) It's (was) a really good design and morphed, sans external hammer, into the Brit Martini action. I hope they get it off the ground 'cause I'll...

    What EXACTLY is the difference?!?

OK Here's the deal. I picked up a Ruger Speed Six a couple months back. Sn Prefix is 150. Every blessed pair of aftermarket grips I can find are for 151 and later prefix guns. One guy referred to the 151 prefix as the large frame. Bottom line ..What is the difference AND ..Anybody got any...

    browning B80 Parts commonality

Probably won't help you find a slug barrel, but IIRc, the Beretta 301 and the B80 Browning were pretty much the same gun. If you look at your B80 barrel, you'll most likely see a that it was made in Italy by Beretta and has the PB logo stamped on it. Good Luck! Sparky

Looking at a new .22 rifle

Can't go wrong with a CZ, especially for the money. Mine's the silohuette model and it's death on squirrels. Just be aware that the American and Varmint ( think) have a 3/8ths dovetail. The other models have an 11mm dovetail grove. Millett has the 1mm rings. Sparky

    Ruger /wilson springs

I have a question re: GP100 action job Is it too much different from doing a Blackhawk? Basically a spring kit and some judicious polishing is about it? I've gotten hold of a 3' GP100 that I'm gonna tinker with. So advice is appreciated!

    870 20 Ga Problem

One other thing..and I don't mean to be insulting at all... make sure you aren't "short stroking" the action when shooting. That will dump loaded shells out of the loading port also. I promise you!!! LOL!!

    870 20 Ga Problem

Sounds to me like the action is out of time. By that I mean the lifter is rising up before the shell leaves the magazine thus dumping the shell out the bottom of the action. First thing I'd suggest is good strip down and cleaning. That allows you to check the whole innards of the receiver out...

    hunting boar with knife *video*

The VS (former Outdoor Life) channel recently aired an episode of the inimitable Tred Barta wading in and killing hogs with a knife. Haven't seen the UTube video, but Barta's plenty "macho" enough to give pause. Just a FWIW Sparky

    S&W Military and Police.

Ok Gentlemen, I must be numerically dyslexic or just old. At any rate the SN I submitted was ALL wrong! The SN on the old Smith is 5 digits 66xxx. The Supica/Nahas book places it in the 1905/ 1906 production run. Thanks to all who replied and my apology for not paying closer attention to...

    S&W Military and Police.

Need a bit of help with the manfacture date of a Smith revolver. It is I think a M&P form the teens or 20s. The serial # is553xxx and the barrel is marked 38 Smith and Wesson Special Military Service cartridge. It has a 6.5" barrel etc. The old gal doesn't have much finish left but locks up...

Wheeler Engineering or Brownell's screwdriver set

I'm about to upgrade my tools for gun tinkering. I've noticed the Wheeler Engineering screwdriver sets advertised recently and was wondering how they stack up against the Brownell's Magna driver. If anybody has experience with the Wheeler set I'd appreciate an opinion. I should note I've used...

    Orem, Ut Wal-Mart

I was in a Wally world in Thomasville, Al today. Noticed that there were no guns in the display and asked the department manager about it. She said that 800 Wal Mart stores will cease selling guns this year as they eventually drop guns across the board. Understand that this store is in the...
