You have not used any logic in your reply you have merely made assertions of what you think are facts. If you think that being deprived of your firearm is not a real danger you can keep living in your fantasy world, but perception is not reality I hope you don't find out the hard way.
What do you guys think of the option of open carrying a
fixed blade knife? I this would be perhaps a more practical option
than OCing a handgun and perhaps a more effective defense than
a folding knife some of which are of dubious value in a fight and quite slow to
deploy. Concealed carry...
I think part of the reason why there is so much antagonism between
the AR camp versus the AK guys, is that there may be a social class difference between the two groups.
The AK is an everyman's(proletariat) gun its relatively cheap, effective it works
everytime you want it to and needs...
I realize the vast majority of THR members haven't shot a cap and ball pistol, but I am curious how confident would you be in a self defense situation with say for example a cap n ball revolver versus a modern pistol assuming the situation is not a drawn out gunfight which the vast majority of...
I live in a relatively rural area and I usually stay up for a long time a night so I notice some things that I would have missed if I would go to bed earlier. I am also a smoker(tobacco) so I often go outside to avoid stinking up the house. Well for a long period of time over about 5 months...

The 1911 is a irreplacable classic I think great quantities of this pistol will be sold and used until we have something as radically new as a phaser gun if such a thing is possible. Its hard to say if thats true about certain Glock models.
The 1911 does great for what a handgun is designed...
I think a semi-auto .22 LR carbine is plenty to stop most realistic threats.
I think its reasonable to assume that most people would be able to get off 3-6shots COM before the attacker closes with you if that doesn't stop them you will have a huge advantage in a hand to hand combat situation...
bottomline the AR-15 is a POS.:D
In the Armed forces its not as big a deal if your rifle jams once in a while because presumably you will have others to back you up. For a civilian when you have one rifle your counting on when it really counts go for something reliable the AK-47!
AK-47
Its a solid rifle! If you value reliability in a firearm above all else
go for it. I would constantly have doubts about the AR-15 if I had to use it in combat, its a POS in harsh or less than ideal conditions. Beware of murphys law get the AK. Beware of Murphy's law!
Sorry Ruger! What do you all think? Fast follow up shots, but the cartridge lacks
alot of stopping power compared to others, it also has an uncanny resemblence to the luger in general shape:D. I guess what I am asking is would you feel "undergunned"?
I have always loved the look of the Luger, the trigger and the ergonomics of the grip possibly the best of any pistol ever made. I was thinking it might be a good sidearm for self defense what do you think? Plus its a piece of history.
