The gun is being sent off to a bullseye pistol 1911 gunsmith. These obvious solutions ain't it unfortunately, it has to be the slide and frame are not in full alignment due to my debacle with the round stuck in the barrel/chamber as above in my post. BTW can anyone explain how a lighter slide...
Thanks for all the suggestions. It does not stovepipe all the time....also seems more likely at the end of a mag. Heat effects of slight expansion on the metals? read through please, it's possible.
The obvious were checked, I wish it had proved to be that. I did start using Winchester...
Howdy,
Have been using Vita Vhouri N310 4.0 gr pushing a 200 gr 45 SWC in my 45's for years.
Suddenly my Les Baer target is stovepiping, the ejected round can't seem to get out of the way fast enough for the new round which is pushing on it and it gets caught before ejecting.. The only change...
This is a worthy question, my experience is there are a few grains sticking to the top of the lubed case after the loading stage, but this happened also when I lubed like for rifle by laying flat, spray, and the roll to distribute.
Thanks for all the replies. They are very helpful.
Yes I could use search but then then
newer members input would be missing... and I would deprive someone of their opportunity to gripe LOL
BartB your in depth information about inherent error ranges in so many other factors is very...
Hi,
I have a balance beam scale used for like 20-30k loads by now.
Wondering about using a cheaper electronic scale instead. I see accuracy+/- 0.1mg is that pretty normal or what should I expect?
Thanks
I'm like jmorris, I tried it out of curiosity on 9mm and liked it so much that all get lubed now. Not much work throwing them in a big plastic bag, spraying and shaking. I suspect my Dillon 550's dies are carbide.
I shot 1 handed for quite a while for NRA bullseye, which I had to stop in this...
That is true. My price may have been too high - probably because I paid top retail price and new can be had for a couple hundred less now.
I'm like RGWalt, I have a bit more taken out to have a forced savings bonus each year.
I also agree that there's probably less a season on the higher end...
Thanks for the thoughts. I agree February seems bad.. maybe April-May like both of you said, after tax returns and looking forward to warmer weather shooting.
I have bought guns in the winter too though, kind of something to do when there's not much going on outside. I do shoot in the winter also.
Hi,
I tried in vain lat fall to sell a reasonably priced 45 and even included a holster and nobody showed any interest.
What time of year do you think is best, after tax time maybe?
Thanks
As an older guy I have come to love using lube on all my handgun cases with my Dillon 550.
It started when I read a thread here about folks using it on 9mm after trying and appreciating what a nice difference it made, I expanded to using for 38's and 45's because it makes loading quicker and...
Quick update for those who helped me: I was successful with my rounds without trimming the cases. The crimp was adequate at .378 and flush mounting did the trick. I had stoned the hooks and around the top of the mags a bit. Won't know if good enough for accuracy till I mount a dot. Reading...
Yes they are attached with chicago screws but on another makers belt I could not get the screw to give for the like of me. Maybe it was loctited or glued?
I don't want to ruin a screw or belt.
Howdy,
Just rec'd a new 52, in that new because it sat in someones safe with not being shot after purchase. The mags showed little to no wear other that having been racked a couple of times.
The bad news is that the springs are weak and my loads stick in the mags. I have read from here and...
