My Pre-64 M-70 in .300 H&H with the scope and sling was ~11 pounds. It was heavy by the end of the day hiking those elevations. Swapped to a lighter scope and Tally rings, but still on the heavy side.
I didn't read all previous posts. But, before you get too far down the rabbit hole, Did some suggest you take apart the bolt and clean out the crud? It does make a difference, ask me how I know???

I’ve had a Remington 870 for about 30 years. Hunting in marshy areas of Md’s eastern shore and Quebec CA. Whenever it gets wet (which is often) it gets pulled down, cleaned, and oiled. I store it in a dry plastic constructed case (no cotton material). It’s still in excellent shape.
