    Risk in buying S&W M19?

In most case this risk is very overstated on the net. It came about by complaints from some police departments who shot high volumes of Lightweight (125gr) bullets at magnum velocities. Most M19s have many more .38 specials shot through them than magnums. The .38 pose no problem what so...

    1895 Nagant technology

Since we are on the subject. What if the Gas seal capability of the Nagant was combined with the automatic functionally of the Webley-Fosbery so that the recoil turned the cylinder and locked it into position, removing need for the trigger pull to do this? Also could the seal could be put in...

S&W pre model 15 combat masterpiece

Personaly I don't think a post-war k-frame .38 is worth more than $450. I kind of loose interest after $400-425. Now, if is is a birthday gun and in as nice a condition as you say, and you just have to have one. I would not call you out for spending $500.

    S&w 32-20

Unless there is something odd that has come out recently, there were no Stainless 32-20. S&W only made 32-20 before the war in the K-frame. (the 38 special frame). SS was not available till after the war. Also matte nickel was not an option. It is either faded nickel or a re-finished piece...

What are the selling points of .357?

One other note. A 38 sp hollow point will mushroom out on top of the skull of a shark. A .357 will get the job done. Buy me a drink, and I'll tell you how I know.

    Defense against dogs......

I can speak from experience. 357 is very much overkill (no pun intended) and as RCModel has mentioned it may just carry on to hit something else I have shot feral dogs with 158 gr 38 special at 15-35 yards. Bullet goes right through and dog is either DRT or running the other direction (for a...

    longest streak

I'm a revolver man so the concept of counting rounds and counting to failure is foreign to me. But to answer the question, it would have to be my S&W 39 -- streak of successful feed, fire and eject, is "all of them"

    Conceal Carry Etiquette

I am a little contrary to most on this thread. I believe in respect and honor most of all. If I value someone as a friend, and I am not sure they would be OK with me carrying then I'll leave it. Otherwise it is "sneaking" which is dishonest. I dont announce I'm carrying, and If I visit...

Anybody like .32acp just for fun?

Oh yes. I shoot them for fun. However I collect them for taking them apart! Really. There is a myriad .32 designs made before the war. I find it fascinating how many different ways an auto can be made. Each is a jewel of design AND manufacture. Unlike "modern" autos, nearly each...

    Best Firearm Movies

I hope JD won't mind, but I'd add "The Getaway - 1972" for some action with Classic Revolvers and 1911.

What would you like to see in a new revolver design?

Kind of like my Valmet shotgun. The idea is you can swap the barrels for any caliber and combination of shotgun and rifle. The problem is the barrels cost more than a new shotgun or rifle. I guess it works if you only want to have one gun.

What gun would you give Bond?

Only if half-naked and with a pony-tail and bushy mustache.

I finally found a Colt Official Police. Finally

I am a die-hard S&W fan but any serious revolver accumulator, or any serious fan of gangster movies, has to have an OP in the stable. Mine is a refinished 5"

    .44-40 defense ammo

Like RC model is saying. What 44-40 is not a self defense round. It does not matter what the internet troopers say, self Defense is NOT combat. A 200 grain bullet, even if only traveling a measly 800 FPS, is a man stopper. For Self Defense you need, in order of importance: 1) Have a gun 2) Have...

Can we share? My first 38/44 outdoorsman has taken the "favorite" spot in my rotation. The problem is non of my targets look that good. I'm sure it is NOT the fault of the ol' piece. Here it is with the one it "replaced"
