I'm having difficulty getting at the essence of your complaint. Is it that American criminals are smuggling guns to Canadian criminals, or is that American criminals have easier access to guns than Canadian criminals. If the first, then obviously it takes two to tango. If the second, I'd...
You received some good advice over the weekend on the Colt Forum. Send a well written certified letter and the same by regular mail, to CCI legal department, stating what happened and what remedy you expect from them. Let them know, in a professional manner, the circumstances and that you have...
I dunno Iggy - some days when my daughters beat me on a run I feel kind of old - and depending on when in the '60s you drove that coach, I might not even have been born! :)
BTW, loving this thread, and really enjoying the Iggy blog too!
I suspect that you're looking in the +$700 range. Colts in .22 just don't come cheap anymore. Nicely kept nickel Colts aren't cheap either. A nice nickel .22 Colt is not an inexpensive combination.
An old refrigerator dumped out in the woods, when I was nine. Little did my uncle and I know, before I started shooting, that some bees had set up a hive in the appliance....

At 11 pounds, the recoil probably won't break your wrist, though I suspect you'll want to use a two-handed grip.
I don't love them, and I don't hate them either. I haven't bought any, and probably won't, based on my experiences with the few I've shot. I didn't like the trigger pull and my accuracy was off with them. There are enough guns that I shoot well that I don't see the need to own a Glock.
I really like the Fuzzy Farrants I have on three of my Colts. Whether shooting .38 special or .357, they fit my hand very well and I can keep a firm grip on the gun for follow up shots.
I'm not usually a fan of the stocks that come with most revolvers. However, I just bought my first...
I love the Farrant stocks. C&L - yours look great, and that's a beaut of a snake.
I have a few sets of Farrants, including un-checked ones on my magnum Colts. Farrant recommended using the checked stocks for standard power rounds, not the heavy stuff, but since I generally shoot lower...
Hi SwampWolf,
The Herritt's were new old stock - I bought them a year or so ago from a guy who posts in the classifieds on a number of boards - I think his handle is "Robb". Anyway, I had a tough time finding stocks that fit the old longer D-frame until these came along. The shorter stocks...
Others have already recommended the Hornady non-+P loads in 110 and 125 grains. I'd also add to that Hornady's 158 grain XTP load for the 38 special. It's a non-+P load and is listed at 800 fps at the muzzle and 765 at 50 yards. I use it in my alloy frame Cobra and don't find the recoil...
Steve C nailed it. You should have no problem shooting +P in this steel framed revolver. But since this revolver is steadily (and rapidly) increasing in value, you may want to minimize wear and tear by sticking with standard velocity rounds.
The one my daughter and I share is fed cup-cake...
I love revolvers and own substantially more of them then autos, but you'll never get me to say that my Colt 1903 and Colt 1911's are ugly. They are things of beauty.
Nope. I really don't enjoy shooting my Cobra the way I do my other revolvers. I shoot enough to feel confident that I can put the shots where I want them, but for range pleasure and plinking, I turn to other guns.
I do spend a decent amount of time, while at my desk, dry-firing the Cobra...
It is extremely unlikely that a Colt would have left the factory sans markings. Detonics has probably hit on it - someone got happy with the buffing during a refinish.
It's value is significantly diminished if this is the case.
I bought one about a year ago that was from the late 50s/very early 60s in VG shape w/ almost no bluing loss, for $425. I ended up trading it for a nice Swedish double-barrel 12g a few months later. A handy little gun, but I ended up finding an old Cobra I liked better and I wanted the shotgun...
