    Good quality Kydex holsters

My latest is a CYA Supply Co. single clip all kydex. It can go almost anywhere on the belt without printing but it pokes. I get used to it pretty quick. I'd love to find a hybrid that doesn't add bulk.

Snub nose revolvers - .357 vs 38 special

I'll be quicker back on target for multiple shots with .38 out of a snub. That's how I run my LCR. I expect it to do the trick at the distances it's intended for and practice has borne that out so far. I'd prefer a 6" barrel for .357.

    [Hypothetical] Ruger LCR-XL?

Tamer grip with adjustable rear sights in .357... yes, please.

    Del-Ton Sport, Version 2

The DT Sports are the most underrated inexpensive and reliable AR platform on the market. Mine's dialed in and I love it.

Here is one we speak about often, 2 dead carrying with empty chamber

Bad stuff happens so much faster than most of us want to imagine. The faster you can get from retention to trigger pulled the better. That's the only time you might have to think about it and you'll want to use that time wisely.

Best 9mm and training .22 combo?

I picked up the M&P .22 compact a couple weeks ago for training and fun. It's great! I wanted something in the same platform as my other pistols for cheaper range time and something that was easier for introducing new shooters to handguns. It fit the bill. Took the girlfriend to the range with...

The fallacy that people in Aurora counldn't fight/shoot back.

How long did this tragic encounter last?

The fallacy that people in Aurora counldn't fight/shoot back.

I'm glad to see a coherent thread on this topic in Strategies and Tactics. God bless the fallen in that theatre who are not here to participate in this discussion regarding "What we would have done."! I do Not wish I had been there! If I had been, I won't say things would have been different...

    False Assumptions

That was the gist in response to false assumption #2. Thanks! And sorry about the confusion there.

    False Assumptions

The false assumptions: #1 Government can stop violent behavior. #2 Gun control laws will take guns away from every violent criminal. #3 Without guns, there would be less violence against other people. The truth: #1 Only education and nurturing will stop violent behavior. #2 Too many guns...

Marine Special Operation Command Order 4000 Colt Rail Guns

If it runs out of bullets, maybe an all-steel 1911 will make a more serious dent in the other guy's skull??? Just saying. All those mags are certainly a good point too; and yes, Marines are most certainly frugal... but also effective.

Does the military follow the 4 rules?

Not to make light of the question at all, but it doesn't sound like much was going on there except some harmless training "on the side" that you happened to run into... literally. I can't speak for everyone, of course, but I'm very reasonably Sure that firearms safety is a very well...

    Tritium BUIS with RDS?

Thanks AK! I'm thinking the same: tritium front, not as neccessary for the rear. My front sight is fixed though. Will tritium interfere with the red dot too much? Co-witnessed ideally, but either way?

    Tritium BUIS with RDS?

I can only imagine the resulting sight picture, having never employed the two together. So I'm wondering if it's an option others who have used both together would recommend? I still need a rear BUIS on a flat top with the standard AR FSP and RDS that are there now. Is it advisable to...

    AR-style in .308?

This is what I concluded myself when considering the merits of getting a .308 in the AR platform. Sure, I want one :) But I decided my own needs and applications would be better served by the two rifles as Tony suggests.

Your shooting skill level and real world applications

I'm "not a competition guy" either, but I've long had an itch to become one. It may answer the question my own current philosophy asks: if "my gun is more accurate than I am" (which is something you hear folks say, including myself), then why? There's a lot of "variables" involved with...

Hobby versus proficiency. Is there a conflict?

No argument here :) I figure as long as there's no confusing the fundamentals of any given tool for it's task, and the purpose for it is clearly understood, then there's no conflict.

A day at the range with 4 handguns, 2 rifles and 2 shotguns?

Same here... I'd rather take friends who share and keep track of their own stuff than take more than a couple of guns myself ;) Plus, my range time is planned for Practice with a goal in mind. So, on a good day, I get to develop the skills I'm striving for And have some fun too. That said...

WAS going to get a Shield until I held on and operated it.

Ditto ...and I'm only getting more accurate (and having more fun) with every trip to the range! Mine is stock so far, and the only thing I'm planning for it anywhere in the near future is maybe mounting some night sights.
