    Taurus PT111-9mm G2

I have been a devoted Walther carrier for years (PPS & PPQ) Recently went through an 8 hour tactical class with my new Taurus PT111G2. Having owned numerous pistols beginning with a S&W 3904, to carrying Walthers, I was very impressed with the Taurus PT-G2! No failures of any kind. No...

    Beretta Nano

Purchased a Beretta BU9 in Feb 2014; issues after first 76 rounds, 4 different ammos. Given possible user errors and corrections, I have had stovepipes and FTE's and FTF's. Not really happy with what I had hoped to be a more compact, "Unexpeted-immediate-need-to-fire without-aim" weapon...

    S&w m&p 40c

When does the magazine fall out? What has been done to "fix" the problem so far? Mag falls out indiscriminately. First time, well into second mag. After S&W return; 8th round. Then 9th and 10th round. No detectable science beyond bad mfg. Supposedly, mag clasp and spring replaced each...

    S&w m&p 40c

Have had a SWMP40C for two years. Mag still falls out even after repeated trips to SW. Is there a real fix or do I count this pistol as trade fodder??

    Why is the PPK unpopular?

Re: PPK I had an old PPK, given to me by a relative. Sold it in 1998. In 2006, I purchased a Bersa Thunder 380. For all intents and purposes, only an ounce of difference between the two. Actually found the Bersa to be more dependable, and slightly better balanced. My 2 cents worth. QE2

Old Remington Shotgun Model 48 12Ga.

Just brought home an old Remington "Sportsman 48" 12Ga. shotgun from my dad's office - it has been racked in same place for 30 years (no kidding). To my knowledge, it has not been fired since he bought it from a friend in the gun biz. I disassembled, cleaned out years of "atmosphere". Mag...

    Taurus 709 "Slim"

I purchased a PT709 last Fall at a local gun show in Houston. Actually, I got it when I "unloaded" a Taurus Mill Pro PT111 (mine was a POS - I think I have previous posts about this). At any rate, the 709 looked to be a completely re-thought and re-engineered design. So, why not? Since then...

Kel Tec Continues to innovate, 30 rds of 22WMR due out 2Q 2010

I have read de-classified military reports of snipers using 22-17 rounds at substantial distances. The .17cal projectile can be absolutely deadly (details forgone). As with any caliber, placement is critical; skill under pressure often trumps jacket diameter. Comments? Q2

    Smith Wesson date of manufacture

BAD'... Thanks very much!! Close (within 10 years) is my best friend at this point. This report is due in probate on Dec. 3rd. Could not wait for S&W to "narrow any further". Your help (and estimate) is really appreciated! Best regards, Q2

    Smith Wesson date of manufacture

Looking at an OLD post; but need help with S&W serial numbers / DOB 2 guns: "Snub Nose" .38 Spl. 1. SN: C 181991 - 5 shot rounded front sight. bbl= 2" 2. SN: J 11975 - 5 shot; front sight tapering down back to frame both standard wood grips - typical J frame type. Doing an estate confirmation...

Small 9/40 Pistols - Why don't more manufacturers create them?

Comes a time... When one must pay proper attention to physics... Shorter/smaller is a bit like cell phones and handguns: Submissive to a minimal point, the human hand can no longer efficiently operate certain devices (or, as transferred; handguns). I have been very, very picky over the...

    S&W metal-frame autopistols - What's left? Which one?

One detail I forgot: I think all the -04, -06 etc. are DA/SA; at least my 3904 is.

    S&W metal-frame autopistols - What's left? Which one?

Can't help much, but: I have a "3904", mid-size, alloy frame, single stack police issue from the '80's. First auto I owned - still have it and it's a keeper (in the current market one could almost call it "slim"). I am now looking for a 6904 or 6906 (I think the -04 is like a service pistol...

    Cleaning options ~~ HELP??!!

Regarding Gun Cleaning ' The devil with all the new "green" products. I'm with Jed. My home-made recipe for shotguns, rifles and pistols is: 1. Heavy cleaning: M-Pro Gun Cleaner (Academy - approx. 7 to 9 bucks for a 4oz. pump-spray bottle); but the bottle lasts for months; taked very little...

    Taurus PT709 Slim

Regarding PT709 As I wrote in another thread / post, I traded a Taurus Mill-Pro 9mm for a PT709. The Mill-Pro was a good pistol - and (as I understand) rated for most of the plus-ammo. Possibly due to the heavier machining. However, the magazine release was scary-sensitive, with no...

    Walther PPS

Read recent posts - my comments: Mr_Toad: the "slippy-one-size-fits-4-others-maybe" holsters are exactly why I make my own. Back in the '80's a business venture required (among other things) that I learn the basics of leather crafting, including wet-forming techniques and construction. I spent...

    Walther PPS

Purchased mine about 2 or 3 months ago - .40 Cal. Ran 250 rounds Win-fmj. Also did 20 rounds of Hornady FPD just to see; pricey - but one needs to know before depending on it. No problems at all. Accuracy at 25 yards is amazing. I hand made a couple of custom close-fit holsters, and I am now...
