Money is a big problem with any gun confiscation. They have to pay what it is worth. With the millions of "assault" weapons out there we are talking billions of dollars. The mone just isn't there.
I am curious as to where my C&R Liscense fits in this mess. I doubt that there is a Democrat in Illinois that has any idea what it is or that it exists. Not sure what I will do if it passes. If I register them I will bet a lot of money that consfiscation will be the next step. My understanding...
I have had mine for many years. Well worth the $10 a year it costs me. Anything over 50 years old is covered but you must be able to document that. You can ship and recieve long guns through USPS but handguns must go Fed Ex or UPS. Never been checked by the BATF but plan to go to them if it ever...
I have a used safe and several security cabinets. All are bolted to the wall, floor, and each other. A pro can easily get into the best safe. Most home burglers are not pro's. They are in and out in a short period of time. Not loosing any sleep over it. The cabinets will stop the average home...
Funny that most dealers in Illinois have no problem with it. Buy a lot of guns through Gunbroker that have to be shipped to an ffl here and no issue. Usually $20-$25. $10 at gun shows.
I see a lot of reference lately to "Assault type" weapons. This is actually a more accurate term as to what they want to ban or restrict since true assault rifles are capable of ful auto fire. I am wondering where my post ban Colt AR 15 stands. It was legal durring the last ban. Will it be ok...
I belong to both the NRA and GOA. I will be buying NRA memberships for 3 of my acquaintinces who are gun friendly but not members. I recomend that every gun owner buy at least one other person a membership. There is safety in numbers. The big problem with what is going on now is that it is just...
I was going to send the NRA $100 to help support the cause. Decided a better plan was to buy gift memberships for 3 gun friendly friends who are not members. If every NRA member would sponsor at least one new member it will be a show of strength. Anyone with me on this?
Illinois has required background checks for all guns sold at gun shows and all private non gun show sales for years. Hasn't slowed the shootings in Chicago and E. St. Louis at all.
Interesting discussion. I have a 20 gauge that I need to cut down. Good advice on locating the bead. May have to buy a tap but thats all. All the discussion about doing the job perfectly is fine but its a sawed off shotgun that will be shot at 20 to 30 feet at the most. There is such a thing as...
Personaly love the guns but have no intrest in playing derss up and living the lifestyle. Another issue that no one brought up is that kids today are more interested in their smart phones and Ipads than anything else.
The Mountain Rifles are about the most accurate of the CVA's. CVA flintlocks are supposed to have some issues. All the comments here are dead on. I bought my .58 from an eldery gentleman who built it from a kit. He changed the sights to tradional style. Claims there are two bodies on this one...
I am 72 and still adding to my collection. Sell a few on occasion. Plan on enjoying them till I drop dead or have to go to the home. I wouldn't be too quick to claim capital gains on my taxes. Its a hobby. If you go back all those years and add up how much you lost on various guns, cost to...
This subject keeps coming up on various sites. I still keep going to as many shows as I can. By most of my collectable guns on GB or gun specific site. A lot of it is social for me. Two other friends and I have been doing this since the '70's. I have a lot of firends and acquaintences among the...
I have ended up with a small collection over the years sort of by accident. Interesting sutff out there and if worse comes to worse most of it is still shootable.
The NRA is no different than anything else. Its impossible for eveyone to totaly agree with everything done but they are still our best bet. I also pay dues to GOA every year and don't always agree with their take on things.
