    Ladies Night at the Range

He doesn't like it, and that's fine. He came around quick to me wanting to own a gun. I like that my daughter enjoys it. The gun stays locked up so she can only access it with me, which is as it should be. I do plan on getting a .22, probably in the spring, happy birthday to me. Mostly because...

    Ladies Night at the Range

He doesn't like it. It hurts his arm he says. Whatever.

    Ladies Night at the Range

A range about 12 miles from me was lists "Ladies Night" on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month, so I took my 19 year old daughter and we went out for her to shoot my new Ruger LCR. We were the only gals there, but we got the discount and had a good time. It was her first time shooting and I'm...

    Concealed Carry Permit Arrived Today

CoRoMo, I haven't been at this very long, but I think it's better to carry on your person than in a purse. It's more secure for one thing. Is she prepared to NEVER put down her purse? It's bad enough to hang your purse on your chair in a restaurant when it's your wallet and credit cards at risk...

    Concealed Carry Permit Arrived Today

All right, it's not exactly a trip to WalMart for Doritos, but here's my first concealed carry shopping experience: Decided to grab something for dinner since I'm home alone tonight, so of all places to go for the first time, I picked up some sushi & few other things we needed at Whole Foods...

    Concealed Carry Permit Arrived Today

Karen, thanks, still looking forward to meeting you and going to a range together. dec41971, Fairfax, it took about a week under the 45 days they told me it would take. Very easy process too, you need two copies of everything, photo ID and proof of residency (I had my Voter ID card with me)...

    Concealed Carry Permit Arrived Today

Okay, I am now able to carry concealed. I have a SmartCarry Holster and a Ruger LCR. It's fairly comfortable. Felt weird walking through my neighborhood armed, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. Husband not real comfortable with the whole idea, but since concealed is concealed I figure I don't...

Going to my first gun show, hoping to buy my first gun

It's new. I have the receipt, it was a cash sale. And since it's a revolver, no slide to rack, obviously.

Going to my first gun show, hoping to buy my first gun

It's not too bulky. I'm sure the LCP would be a little more comfy, but I like a revolver, and it's quite small.

Going to my first gun show, hoping to buy my first gun

Alright, finally got to the range and fired my new Ruger LCR. Very awesome gun, I think I'll really enjoy it. Been carrying it around the house in a SmartCarry holster, just "practice" as I am waiting for my CCW permit to arrive. But want to get comfortable with it as I will likely carry.

Going to my first gun show, hoping to buy my first gun

No, yesterday was a day from hell for me, everything that could go wrong did, pretty much. So when it was over I just stayed in. But this weekend for sure!

Going to my first gun show, hoping to buy my first gun

9MMare, not a huge jerky fan after overdoing it waaaaaay too much on a camping trip ;-) I should be able to try it out today or, more likely, Wednesday afternoon. Meesh

Going to my first gun show, hoping to buy my first gun

Okay, we're back and happy from the show. I did get my Ruger LCR, I paid $430 cash for it, which is a little better than $100 off retail at the local shop and online. Guess a Virginia gun show is more fun than a Florida gun show because the background check was done in 45 minutes and out the...

Going to my first gun show, hoping to buy my first gun

Deanimator, I've used both the Ruger SP101 and the LCR and MUCH prefer the LCR. I also used the Ruger LCP and also fired several Glocks, full sized semi-automatics and full size revolvers. I settled on the LCR because the recoil isn't bad for a small gun, even with my short experience I find my...

Going to my first gun show, hoping to buy my first gun

Schofield3, I had to take a class in firearms safety and handling, which I wanted o do anyway as I had never fired a gun prior to that. The class included range time and a one-month range membership as well as a bunch of discounts. Then all I needed to do was fill out a form I downloaded online...

Going to my first gun show, hoping to buy my first gun

Okay, I've been renting a variety of guns at the range, and have decided that the Ruger LCR is what I want. This weekend I am going to my first gun show. What would be considered a "good" price for this gun? Is it acceptable to haggle? On a side note, a few weeks ago I applied for my CCW...

    Workplace stupidity!

Good reason to be self-employed, leave the BS behind Yeah, this sort of stuff is why I decided to start my own business five years ago. Lack or privacy, arbitrariness over who was and who was not allowed to telecommute, "pointy-headed" bosses, raise freeze after '01 recession never lifted when...

    Hot Brass!!!!

Well, I've only been to the range a few times, but the first thing I was told when I booked my class was to wear long sleeves and no low neck shirt, and to wear a visored cap. After hearing all the brass plinking off the visor I know I'll never shoot at the range without my cap!

    Ruger LCR in depth Review

I rented one of these at my range this morning and really enjoyed it. I also shot really well -- especially considering it was only the third time I'd been to the range! Narrowing down my choices for what I want to purchase and the Ruger LCR is currently top on the list. Meesh

    Okay, but it

I like the way we handle our money -- he gives me all his money and I pay the bills, handle the investments, etc. His current passion is ham radio (he's a broadcast engineer, he likes his job and it's also a hobby, not a bad thing). So, in the big scheme of things, should disaster strike...
