Took my FN SCAR out to the range this past week and thought I'd post my initial thoughts. The weather's been cold lately and we had a half decent day so I took advantage. It was super windy, which probably didn't affect the bullets at the ranges I was shooting, but it made good shooting more...
Trent-
This post really bothered me. It bothered me because you're a gun owner and a gun owner that apparently owns a .50 BMG too.
I planned to ignore it, but it kept going through my head and I decided to respond. I don't plan to argue, and don't refute the points you made, but I think...
bannockburn. I have a few .22 LR's, but they're not my "go to" guns.
I figure these are the tools I'd use in the following distances if I needed a gun:
0-10 yards: 1911
10-50 yards: Mac 10
25-300 yards: SCAR
100-600 yards: Bolt action .308
200 yards to a mile: .50 BMG

This is my core collection. I've been consolidating a lot lately. Got rid of a lot of things I don't shoot much and decided to focus the collection down to a few key tools. At one point I had between 30 and 40 guns. You can only take a couple to the...
To be clear, my 1911's not a standard, all steel 1911. It's got a lighter alloy frame and is 4". Definitely a little harder to handle than a full size 1911.
Overall, my focus is conceal carry. The gun has been my conceal carry weapon for the last 7 years now. I shoot it more than any other gun. I have reloaded for it and have created some nice light loads that are fun at the range. At the end of the day though, the factory loads are what I try to...
I've been shooting a 1911 for years and carry one concealed. It fits my hands, shoots great, and is reliable. Recently, I've been shooting different handguns and realize that I just shoot 9mm faster and more accurately. With the .45, I'm just not quite as confident.
I started to think about...
Today I went shooting with Vonfatman at his private range. I brought my Mac-10 submachinegun and we had some fun running different kinds of ammo through it. I was really surprised that different brands could vary the cyclic rate by so much. I threw together the video in the link that...
I finally got out to shoot my FAL with suppressor today since I got it cut down to 16" and had the mount put on so I can use my suppressor with it.
I set the gas port up initially so all the gas would hit the piston and shot the rifle with no suppressor and was happy that it functioned fine...
The Lage upper is a must. It's the entire reason I bought the gun really. I can accurately shoot on full auto with it. I've got a youtube video of me shooting with it around here somewhere, will post later.
The macs are great because of all the goodies you can get. Mine is currently with Sam @...
For a minute I thought this thread was about machineguns like mine...
Mac 10 with Uzi conversion (grip to take Uzi mags):
With Lage upper:
Me shooting it:
I'm interested in knowing how heavy the Max11 system ends up being. On my bathroom scale, the Max10 is 10.8 lbs!! A little heavier than I'd like, but it should be controllable on Full Auto with all that weight...

Does there need to be a reason to buy a nice gun? ;)
If I had to think of a reason, it's to complement my sniper rifle... Now I can deal with anything near or far...
My dog's impressed....
PTK's correct. Machineguns require a $200 tax stamp to transfer. After 1986, no machineguns can be manufactured or imported, so there's a fixed supply in the country. What makes the Mac's nice is that the lowers are the firearm and there are a lot of accessories and uppers available. It's kind...
