Ruger P345 why is it not more popular

I bought one P345 and liked it so much that I bought another (.."two is one, etc.") It takes a while to learn the transition from the first DA shot to subsequent SA shots, but it comes with practice. For me, this is the perfect carry gun. It's the right size, right weight and nicely melted...

Ruger P345: Are the kinks worked out?

Put your concerns aside. The P345 is reliable, accurate and strong. And, even if you don't like it, the cost is easily recouped.

    What handgun caliber are you?

I don't think the quiz works. I "scored" 9mm, but I've only owned 1, for a short time, and when I sold it I was so happy that I immediately spent the money at the municiple liquour store.

How does polymer ona pistol hold up over time?

Plastic was used by Savage and Stevens for stocks and forearms during WWII, especially on the Mod 24 .22/410, and a single shot 20 guage - - probably others I haven't seen. I saw one of those Mod 24s last weekend, and it looked brand new. It was priced at $600 and, but for that, I would have...

Ruger 22/45 with standard (tapered barrel)?

Yup, I've got one. 4" stainless, tapered barrel, fixed sights. I bought it in January of 2005 and paid $249, no arguments.

Any love out there for the Ruger P345

See "Tell me about your P345" thread posted by Katana8869. Lotsa love for the P345. By the way, I was at a gun show last weekend, and there were no P345s there. I only talked to one dealer about it, and he said he just couldn't keep them in stock.

    Tell me about your P345!

I share your enthusiasm for the P345. It's the first autoloader I've had that I can shoot as well as a revolver, and it's a lot nicer to carry. I also have a Ruger Blackhawk .45 ACP, which weighs 42 oz, I believe, and the felt recoil is clearly greater from the revolver than from the P345...

What is the BEST polymer-framed handgun line (in your opinion)?

Darn! Guess I have to sell my Ruger P345s. I liked the first one so much that I bought a second. I've never had much appreciation for auto loaders (old 1911, light weight Commander, SW 639, a bunch of SW 10mm, might have forgotten a couple of others), so I thought I'd try them one more time...

What Gun Have You Owned The Longest ?

A Savage M24 .22 mag / 20 guage. I suppose I've "owned" it for 35+ years, but it has been on loan to my brother for about the last 20 years. So long that I had to buy another for my own use.

gonna order RCBS kit, what else do i need?

You'll need a powder measure for sure, and probably a case trimmer by the time your cases have been reloaded a couple of times. I'd would also invest in a tungsten carbide sizing die to avoid having to lube cases (unless that's the only way die sets are shipped nowadays.)

I'll tell you about my first 1911. If that goes well maybe I'll post some more. This gun episode happened in the summer of either 1958 or 1959. I know this because the seller of the 1911 was driving a 1957 Olds, and I didn't have my driver's license yet, which I got in the spring of 1960...
