Info you've kept to yourself as you sold a gun to someone

The way I see it, if I sell something that has a problem I am aware of, I must disclose what that problem is to the potential buyer. There is only one reason not to disclose, and that is because I know they may not buy or may not pay as much for the item if they know it has a problem. To my...

    Gun Safe story

Anecdotal support for the dog...my parents lived in a nice suburban neighborhood, and it the course of 2 years, every single house on the block that didn't have a dog was burglarized...and not one house with a dog was hit. Not a scientific study, but compelling. It didn't even matter if it was...

Do you have ammo for all the guns you own?

All except the old damascus barreled double, but you couldn't pay me to fire that piece anyway.

    Lamest violation excuse ever?

Consider this...someone went through law school, passed the bar, and after reviewing the case, applied all their knowledge, skill, and powers of persuasion to mount a defense. How scary is it that this was the best thing they could come up with to defend these guys? My dad was a public...

With everybody losing their guns in boating accidents

As with any loss, it is up to you to decide if you wish to file a claim or just let it go. After all, it will affect your premium depending on the value of the loss. In the case of the "boating accidents" cited, the better part of wisdom says, don't file a claim. Filing a claim after these...

Anyone shoot purely for recreation, with no thought of self defense use?

I've not been shooting long, and I shoot purely for recreation and hunting at this point, for only two reasons; I've not yet acquired a handgun and I've not had any training with one. I plan to purchase one soon and learn to use it, because no one should assume that they are safe from crime...

How we must frame the debate about gun control

An anecdotal story to support this post, I was in a discussion with a co-worker this past week and she told me the story of her older brother who was murdered by a mad-man with a sawed off shotgun many years ago when she was only thirteen years old. She told me that understandably she was not a...

Hostile Response to "No guns - no money" letters?

Just an observation, but this comment from the establishment betrays that they are confident that you are not an "extremist nut job". If they believed you were, they would not poke the bear that way. They do so because they know they are safe from you. It has to be something else...possibly a...

First Firearm You Ever Fired ?

It was a .22 rifle. I was young and my mothers cousin Halbert took me along to his cabin for a weekend. I don't remember what make or model, but I sure do remember that day.

Which school of thought do you fall into re: hunting w/o permission?

I understand where Tim is coming from, I think he is just equating his personal stance on the issue with a legal/ethical stance. I don't hunt any private land without permission, even though the law may allow it. The original post asked what our stance is, not whether or not our stance is legal.

Which school of thought do you fall into re: hunting w/o permission?

I have to stay with A. Regardless of the law, someone else's land is not my sandbox to play in unless they invite me in or say yes when I ask. I can't find a logical reason why the activity of hunting should be exempt from the concept of personal property...it isn't mine. I didn't work for...

    Tree rats when it raining?

Realistically, in a survival situation, would you waste any shot on the hope that you hit something? If things are that tight, you wouldn't waste ammo on a maybe. That, and here in Pennsylvania it is illegal, as stated before. A confiscated gun feeds no families.

    Any .35 caliber fans here?

.35 Rem Marlin 336RC. Guns may come and guns may go, but that 47 year old .35 will always be mine until it passes to my kids or their kids. You could call me a fan.
