My dad & I ran beagles and hunted small game. He's been gone for 30 years and I still miss him. I visited his grave site two days ago and we had a talk. I looked for his approval of the beagle I had with me and somehow I know he would have loved this dog too.
Your reverent description of the...
High school graduate, son of parents who were born in 1902. Mom finished 8th grade & Dad finished 5th and began his work career picking rocks & slate from a never ending conveyor of coal. Boys were employed there, often as young as 8!
With that background I was/am proud to have a high school...
I just subscribed to Guns & Ammo. Couldn't pass up the deal - 24 issues for $12.00! Let's hope they don't give me any grief.
Somehow, Playboy has my name on their list too. Their offer is 12 issues for $12.00 and includes some kind of "Wet" DVD, but my Mrs. says I can't subscribe! I understand...
Many years ago I was calling many gun shops, trying to locate a magazine for a Remington rifle. At one department store that carried Remingtons, I asked for the sporting department and a woman answered. I asked if they had a magazine for a Remington Model 788, cal. 6mm. She responded with a...
Tom Knapp was amazing! Hitting those thrown aspirins with a 22! And not just one lucky shot.
As for Jerry Miculek. I always wondered just how accurate those ultra fast handgun shooters were. Now I know . . his first rapid string of 6 shots under 1 sec. from a double action revolver were...

I need some help for a friend. He has this apparently well made 16 ga. double made in Budapest that he knows nothing about. I was absolutely no help but am hoping someone here can identify this old shotgun. Thanks for your time...
Can anyone help with identifying this rifle. It's a single shot, bolt action 22K Hornet with double set triggers and looks to be European but according to the owner there are no identifying marks on it. Thanks.

As for scrap prices, a few months ago I sold a 5 gal. bucket of cartridge brass to a scrap dealer. Price was around 55¢/lb., which he said was a record high for brass. I asked about lead prices and he told me 5 to 10¢/lb.! It's been that way for a long time where I deal.
I'm in the fortunate...
I spent 6 years working in Harrisburg in the late 50's-early 60's and there were a few pawn shops in an alley several blocks away from where I worked. Don't know if they're still there but the shop windows were always filled with firearms.
I can understand the non-hunters points about not wanting to personally shoot an animal. I feel compassion for the animals we do hunt but will never again hunt non-edibles like crows or woodchucks (which I used to shoot every summer). I grew up hunting and that's what really got me into guns...
