Smith and Wesson model 10 w,/bull barrel.

Can't beat a model 10 and with a heavy barrel. If one is lucky, one might find a 10-6 4 inch heavy barrel chambered in 357 magnum. Been looking for one for years. Howard

Problems shooting my SP101 .22 double action

I have not seen or handled a GP100 in 22LR. Your better off finding a S&W model 17 or 18. They are accurate and have the best double action trigger for 22LR. If you are not going to shoot double action, then a Ruger single six is a good choice and less expense. Good luck Howard

    .357 ammo for S&W 13-3?

Hi, I used to have a model 13-2 4 inch. I used to shoot the Blazer 158gr 357 magnum through this revolver all the time. Its a target type round. You can find this round at most of the online ammo sites. Most the time you can get either aluminum or brass casing boxes. The price will be $22.00 to...

    GP100 5" OR 686 4" or 6"?

I would buy a 686 either prelock or lock. I have owned three 686 revolvers. two prelocks and I still have a 686 plus with the internal lock. The complaints with the lock I have never seen. Other that appearance my 686 plus is just as good as the older prelocks I used to own. I have also...

Recommended any 9mm revolver you knew.

Finding a 9mm revolver that is quality built for under $500 is rare in my area. The best 9mm I ever owned was a Ruger Blackhawk 357/9mm. Most versatile revolver I ever owned. Howard

Problems shooting my SP101 .22 double action

Again I agree. I sold my SP101 22LR because of the trigger. My single six was much easier to shoot and more accurate. I have had SP101 357 magnums that were much better. My first revolvers were Ruger and H&R. I did not own a S&W until 2008. My relationship with Ruger is not what it once was...

Problems shooting my SP101 .22 double action

I would suggest your wife practice in single action only. Like others have said, the Ruger SP101 has a very heavy trigger pull. I know because I used to have one. If she insists on learning to shoot double action with a 22 LR then I would sell the Ruger. There are better options. S&W has...

    .38 special SD load recommendations

The track record in shootings still favors the FBI round. LSWCHP. Either Remington or Winchester. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VODX8qMO-Mo Here is a link to the test. Howard

Ruger KGP100 22LR report and question

I would do it since you are having issues. While I did not mark my cylinders when I had the problem you might use a black marker and start marking them by first one dot then two dots on the next cylinder and so on. It might help isolate the area of the lockup. Anybody else have any idea? Good luck

Ruger KGP100 22LR report and question

Berettaprofessor: I had the same problem with a GP100 4 inch 357. About every fifth round the revolver would lock up and not fire in single or double action. It was not all the time but it was enough that I did not trust the revolver for home defense. Since you bought your GP100 new, I would...

.38 Spl Ammo Questions: Standard vs +P

Standard 38 special has been downgraded since 1970s. Most ammo companys have standard ammo at about 700 to 750 fps. Again sammi specs are 170,000 psi. Very weak ammo. Your revolver should not have a problem. There is no need to shoot +p for practice. Lots of choices. Good luck Howard

    Colt Police Positive

Congrats and you did well on your Police Positive. Colt was competing for the service revolver market against S&W in those days. The Police Positive is similar to the Colt official Police. The Official Police actually was more popular than S&W as a police service revolver in the 1920s and 1930s...

    TAURUS got me. Broken gun.

I am not a big brasher about any gun manufacture but I will join the Taurus brasher club. Six years ago I bought a new Taurus Tracker 357. Thank goodness I bought the revolver from a great LGS. With the help of my LGS we sent the revolver back to Taurus three times. The issue was the revolver...

    S&W Combat Masterpiece v. Ruger Security-Six

My response Confederate is about the topic only. I have a S&W revolver that was shipped in 1922. A M&P 1905 4th change 38 special. There is not a revolver I have owned that has a better action. I have owned S&W revolvers made in the Bangor Punta era. Some were good and some not so good. I...

    S&W Combat Masterpiece v. Ruger Security-Six

I have owned both the Combat Masterpiece pre-15 and the Security Six 2.75 and a Police Service Six 4 inch. I like them both but the edge goes to the Combat Masterpiece for the 38 special round. Probably the better comparison would be the S&W Combat Magnum model 19 versus the Ruger Security Six...

    Which 38 for range use?

These three choices make sense to me. In my neck of the woods K frame revolvers are now pricey. Ruger Blackhawks are large and heavy. A lot of folks don't care for the full lug S&W 586/686 or the Ruger GP100. For me that leaves the Ruger Security six or Service six. They handle much the same as...

What was the first revolver you ever shot, and what was the first one you purchased?

My first revolver I ever shot and owned is Harrison & Richardson model 922 nine shot Octagon barrel convertible. Used to go bird hunting in Arizona. I had some good times shooting with this revolver. Howard

    DA .22LR Revolver Recommendations?

Either S&W model 34 or 63 would be a excellent choice. Don't forget the model 17 or 18. Good luck, Howard

    Looking for a .22 revolver

I would have to agree that a S&W model 34 or 63 would be a excellent choice. Also look for a model 17 or 18. I know these are only six shot but the accuracy of these revolvers is very good. The H&R 922 is also a sleeper. These revolvers can be bought for under $500. I once had one and enjoyed...

Ruger GP100 vs. Ruger GP100 Match Champion

If I were you, I would buy a standard GP100. Check the revolver closely and dry fire the revolver with snap caps. The trigger will be somewhat heavy but as long as the trigger pull is smooth, then I would buy the revolver. The price on the match model is high and in my opinion not worth it. On a...
