Glad you got that one figured out. I'll be interested in how this rifle works out for you. I have a Rem 788 in 6mm Rem that is pretty much shot out after too many trips to the Dog towns. Been thinking about re-barreling it.
The expander section of some Lee dies are a little rough and can be polished up by chucking them in a drill and polishing with 600 grit paper. I do use Imperial sizing wax for almost all of my FL resizing chores. Just dip the case neck in, sometimes just every third one.
The Lee Pro 100 die set is just a standard full length die, a standard seating die and a short powder charging die.
Good dies, I use the hell out of them for my .223 blammo ammo.
No AR's in my house but I do load for two bolt rifles and can play with seating heavier bullet out to the lands. Trouble is my Rem788 slower twist has a deep throat and my Howa 1500 1in9 has a short throat.
Back in those crazy wild fun days of 1969 I hadn't a care in the world. Got out of the Army in Sept, had a good talk with my folks who both served in War2. They could see the crazy in me and my Dad recommended I get a job out away from people and said a feller he knew was looking for a good hand...
I have mined the copper for making bullet jackets and cartridge cases but my part ended when it went out the gate on a flatbed truck from the Freeport McMoran Morenci Az mine in a big ingot.
Back in 1969 I was working on a ranch way up in the Big Horn Mountains in Montana. One of the other cowboys got me in to reloading 30-30 with a Lee whack a mole and casting our own bullets. We tried a lube of 50/50 Bear grease and Bees wax. Scooping powder with the Lee scoop and if I remember...
Is this once fired brass that you have reloaded? That looks like the mark left after being pressure tested. I bought some once fired 22-250 brass one time that had that mark. I had a hard time getting it resized to chamber in my Ruger 77VT.
There's info for the .308 service rifle in the Hornady 9th edition manual. And like the 5.56/.223 the .308 and 7.62x51 dies are the same. So dimensionaly they are the same on the outside. What type of Service rifle will you be loading for? My friend has a M14 clone that he loads for and I gave...
Billing Montana had the Big Bear Army Navy Surplus store on Montana avenue. Back in the 50's my little brother and I would wander through there like it was Alladins Cave. I got up into high school making money working jobs and that's when I got started reloading. I had bought a whack a mole .270...
I know that to the new reloader that Powder choice can be very confusing. Especially with all of the newer 'Botique' powders that have came out in the several years. Been loading since 1967 and I remember back when Winchester came out with a lineup of Ball powders that we all had to try. Fast...
What's Reloader 15.5, never heard of it. I still have a lot of Alliant Reloder 15 in the locker and use it in a lot of my rifles. It works as well as Varget and IMR4895 for what I'm doing.
