Is there such a thing as an accurate powder dispenser?

It depends on how much accuracy you're looking for. 231 generally meters well, and I have no problem getting .1 gr variance with my old Bonanza measure. Many others should duplicate this with that powder. Different ball game with stick. But really, how much variance did you see in your loads...

    Dillon 550 throwing spent primers

Replace the cotter pin with a piece of paper clip. The cotter pin is nice but it binds. Paper clip wire is free and takes only a minute to solve permanently. Make the bend clearance generous.

    Is Cleaning Brass Critical?

No. It's not. Yes, you can if you want to. It's not a religion, but it's certainly becoming a cult.

Surface area on back end vs velocity

Assuming you have a chronograph. You will need to document each type of bullet's bearing surface area to account for frictional differences. Also assuming all bullets are from the same manufacturer to eliminate variations in jacket materials. You won't be able to document the jacket thickness...

How critical is it to remove lube from reloads?

solman: What do you base this on? This thread has gone 3 pages and not one person has substantiated what is to me, an urban legend. The engineers here have pretty thoroughly debunked the myth, but changing long held beliefs appears to be work for priests and exorcists, not engineers. I AM...

    Why I wet tumble

Pablo: Agreed! :D Note that I didn't say to not clean and make shiny, just made commentary on how it's almost becoming OC. :uhoh:

    Why I wet tumble

You know what's REALLY amazing? Long before we had tumblers, viratory case cleaners, walnut shells, corncob, NuFinish, and all that jazz, we were able to reload cases with primer, powder, and bullets, and go out in the woods and hunt. The quarry didn't give a rat's rear about how clean or...

Surface area on back end vs velocity

outlawjw: Even if you created a hollow base in the bullet all the way to the nose of said bullet to increase the area to its maximum capability, the "ram" is still going to be at bullet dia. The cross sectional area of the bullet is all the gas has to act against. The shape is immaterial...

How critical is it to remove lube from reloads?

It's probably a good thing I wasn't drinking when I read the above. Perhaps with all your qualifications and experience you can explain how in a closed system, with no increase in powder charge, the application or presence of grease in the chamber or on the cartridge case can effect a near...

How critical is it to remove lube from reloads?

So basically the bullet is moving forward and the case is moving backwards, but it's stopped by the surface friction between the cartridge case and the chamber wall? I'd sure hate to be a gun designer with input parameters like that. How do you size locking lugs with so many unknowns...

    Did I damage my brass?

Please note the temps on the chart are in Centigrade. Nothing happens at all until after 250C or 482F, and only a 10% reduction after 536F. And that chart is predicated on a 1 hour heat soak. Load and shoot no harm done. :D

    Another big fan

It's great when used with carbide dies, but lacks the film strength of other more robust lubes. It's all I use for volume reloading on progressives, but I use a thicker lube with much higher film strength for large cases and conventional dies.
