Champions Choice leather coat works for me.

Tell me the CONS of the Hornady LNL AP

The biggest gripe I have is the lack of finish on some parts (powder measure mostly), which allows them to rust easily. My loading area is pretty dry too. Like a lot of mechanical things, it took a little tinkering to make it work like I wanted. I agree the case feed is less than stellar. All in...

    Storing M1 Garand

Hammer down w/empty chamber. To let the hammer down gently with out snap caps : pull the bolt back partially till it contacts the hammer, then depress the trigger. Then send the bolt home. For extended storage, some NM M1 guys would unclamp the trigger group so it wouldn`t loosen the action to...

Where do I find a listing of matches?

You can subscibe to this free e-mag from the NRA. In the back are listings for NRA approved matches. http://www.nrapublications.org/ssusa/ Here`s where you can find upcoming leg matches at the CMP site. http://clubs.odcmp.com/cgi-bin/matchUpcomingSearch.cgi I also see some listings in the NRA...

    five digit m1 carbine

Craig Reisch`s Carbine book is a good inexpensive book for reference by the layman. For Carbine information overload ;-) War Baby by Larry Ruth is good.

    bullets for Service Rifle Competitions

I assume you mean 80 grain (.224) Noslers. If so, yes I`ve used them with good results. I prefer the Sierra 80MK though or should I say my rifle does.

    WOA service rifle flat top?

Used to be that way, but the detachable carry handle has been OK for a while now.

    .38 reloading (target)

That`s one thing Hodgdons Titegroup claims to eliminate. Although as some of the others, I haven`t seen it to be a problem (bullseye, 700X, WST, etc) It`s supposed to have uniform burning with light charges in cartridges where the the powder to case volume difference is large. I can`t say if it...

Does the Hornady Lock-N-Load AP handle these calibers?

Hello and welcome. It looks like both are listed as having a L-N-L AP shellplate available. http://www.hornady.com/store/Shell-Holders-and-Shell-Plates/ I think some Lee dies are less than ideal in some situations. The ones in .38 spl, .223 work fine for me, but they are threaded down pretty far.

"Saving one" in the chamber: competitive shooting

It`s a no-no in NRA High Power. They call it a "hot reload". The rules say you get a goose egg for the string if you do it.
